Many people have fantastic ideas about site updates that are generally accepted by the majority of people who reply.

Then the thread dies, and the same thread is made some months later with the same response.

However, nothing ever happens about it. (citation needed)

Can we just get an official word? Does anyone at Bungie care about improving the website for their online community?

Answer: Yes

You're probably feeling frustration because Bungie as a whole is currently "dark". I'll just leave you with this, though: considering there hasn't been a major functional change to bungie.net for a significant period of time... just what do you think the Web Team has been doing? If you knew that you had a window where you weren't releasing stuff (and therefore had an extended period of time to work compared to your usual time)... what would you do? :)

Yeah thats true. What we need is a huge list thats pinned in the community forum, maybe it'll stop all the 'idea' threads because then they'll know it would have been suggested already.

Pretty sure someone made a list just like that a while ago

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

Clearly they do, otherwise they never would've updated it at all, especially in the form of assigning crucial roles to the users in the form of moderation, and not to mention the thousands of golden septagons next to threads. But right now their main focus is on the Destiny project, rightfully.

This frightens me.

In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender.

I'm not sure about the site updates, I'm assuming Achronos makes changes when he deems it necessary to do so. Bungie employees are more than likely lurking the forums on a regular basis and reading the ideas the community makes about their games, they just don't make a huge fiasco about it.

Updates to the site don't happen as often as any of us would prefer, but that doesn't mean our suggestions are ignored or lost.

  • 01.25.2012 5:25 AM PDT

They take our feedback and use it when updating the site. The thing is they only perform major updates when they announce/release a new game.

  • 01.25.2012 5:25 AM PDT

Well it's Bungie's site. It's for the community, but not made by the community. If it was my site I'd make it the way I like it. I could care less about the communitys opinion/thoughts although they're the ones who actually use it. We use the site the way Bungie wants us to use it.

They're just forums, I doubt anyone at Bungie really cares what features or ideas you guys want or have. The people who visit the site/forums probably only make up for a small amount of the fanbase.

It's a two way street.
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

I totally agree! There's no way of knowing what threads bungie read.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

Not really. Even if they may not hold much sway over the hand of the webteam, suggesting features is a good way to pass the time.

I think anything the community posts or mentions, providing it receives proper attention, is read and taken into account by Bungie. But remember, they can't monitor the forums 24/7, so not everything can be read and absorbed into their design documents.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I think that are time suggesting things is not wasted. Just keep doing it, and something will happen.

Suggesting for an option to be able to remove yourself from a group that you are currently in the member queue for is wasting your time.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I find that most of the few thread I ever create die out after a page or two, and I don't think it's a coincidence that most involve trying to improve the community through other means besides hiring new moderators.

Hell, I tried to get support for having the community help sick kids through the Bungie Foundation, but that was found uninteresting by the community letting it fall through the cracks.

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

I found the concept appealing, but that's about all that could be done. We can say "Great idea!" but none of us can do anything more than that.

I ♥ Bungie!

Well Bungie listens but they don't do anything, they are very busy people.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Honestly, I've grown to think that it is a complete and utter waste of time. I've suggested feedback plenty of times, and even the small things, hell, even the things that were already fixed get shot down. Either people view a suggestion for improvement as an attack, or they refuse to even consider change at all.

Bungie is a software company, who employs web designers. Unless you're also a web designer, what could we possibly suggest that they haven't already considered? Why would they care what we have to say, beyond whatever amount of caring it takes to tell us that they care? They have the site data. They can see what we are doing. Why would it matter what we say we want, when they can use patterns of activity to determine what we will actually do/use?

Suggesting feedback or giving your opinion on this site's operation is completely pointless, and a waste of time. Of course, I think we can say that wasting time is why we're here most of the time, so it might not be such a bad thing.
