smart, interesting, seems out of place.

While playing CEA, I came up with a concept for a new Halo survival mode: Containment Protocol. While I realize this would be unable to be in Halo 4, seeing as how it is nearly finished being developed, this would be a great addition to future Halo games. It is rather simple:

You start the match with either a Magnum or Forerunner pistol, depending on which map you choose. (To be explained later) The game has a round system, and doors and other features will be unlocked the further you progress. You will have a Point/cR system. You get Points and cR with every kill. You can open doors, request weapon/vehicle drops, or receive assistance. Round 1 will include Infection Forms and perhaps a Combat Form or two, while Rounds like 30 and higher will have Tank Forms and Juggernauts. A Gold Skull will be turned on every 5 Rounds, and once all skulls are on, their effects will begin to be upgraded. Your Multiplayer rank will intertwine with Protocol, so the higher you are in Multiplayer, the more weapons, vehicles, and power ups/Armor Abillities you will be able to airdrop in.

The idea is for there to be four maps as a default, with DLC to add more. Two Forerunner maps, and two human maps. Forerunner maps will be focused more on the Forerunner arsenal, while the human maps will focus more on the UNSC's arsenal. Human weapons will be dropped in via SOEIVS, (Or whatever they're called.) and vehicles will be dropped in via Pelican or Albatross. Forerunners get their weapons dropped in using light projection and vehicles via dropship. You will use your Forerunner and Spartan from the Armory when playing Protocol. Your Firefight voice will also apply to this.

UNSC Support:

CQC ODSTs

infected as soon as they land, Spartan IIIs will have 2/3 shielding)

Forerunner Support:

Sentinels

Sentinel Majors

Sentinel Enforcer (Depends on map)

Sentinel Guardian (Depends on map)

Sentinel Healing Protector

Sentinel Constructor (For repairing vehicles)

Forerunner Infantry

Forerunner CQC Infantry

And yes, this was on HXC, but it got buried in about an hour.

So, what do the remaining Halo fan(atics) here think of my idea?

A lot based on presumption, but it sounds like it could work.

All I can truly do is presume. I plan on updating this once we get concrete info on Halo 4. Right now, all I know is that it'll have Flood and Forerunners.

Very true. It's exciting to think what new weapons, armour, vehicles etc. are being worked on.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

is the TL;DR version just -blam!- Zombies in Halo?

This, or Horde mode.

This is clearly a blatant rip off of horde/survival/zombies mode from the call of duty/gow/etc series....

Infection forms would have to give 0 cR.

with an enemy like the flood at hand, a horde mode is long overdue...

Marathon's survival mode?

I love you

I don't think Halo 4 is almost complete. It comes out holiday 2012 which to me, is around November or December. So they could still easily modify firefight to make something like you suggested.

That was what I was thinking when I read "use credits to open doors." OP its a nice idea but really no one wants Halo to turn into COD 2.0

The cR system in here would give you nothing in Multiplayer and Firefight, it is merely for CP. If you purchase something in the Armory, then it applies to your Spartan, which is used in CP. Infection Forms are 2 cR each. I plan on adding the cR rewards and costs later.

Technically, they're all rip-offs if you think about it.

Sounds awesome. Basically its cashing in on the sudden peak in survival modes. Horde mode in GoW, Survival in MW3. Halo could really gain a larger fan base by adding this.

  • 01.25.2012 6:13 PM PDT

I like the idea of Flood firefight period instead of typical covenant. Lol survival mode (Cod much? It's ok). I wont play the game period if they even change the name of firefight to sirvival mode.

Infector Form

Juggernaut Form

Scorpion Form (Depends on map)

Flood Pelican (Depends on map)

Flood Hornet (Depends on map)

Flood Falcon (Depends on map)

Flood Forerunner Dropship (Depends on map)

These last few, especially Juggernaut, would be incredible for a high round challenge. Btw, Forerunner Monitor would be cool to have on a bonus round or something.

I considered putting Monitors in, as both enemies and friendlies. Also, when I said Scorpion Form, I didn't mean the tank. I meant an actual Scorpion. I just wanted to clear that up.

Exactly MW3 survival mode with flood

  • 01.27.2012 1:10 PM PDT

Show Faith/Defy Fate

To be perfectly honest, i think Halo should either go all out in a flood survival mode (which would be fun at first but a bit like zombies), or they could refine the firefight experience and take it into the direction that they were headed with odst. The Endure challenge was really fun with four people but it just took so damn long for things to really pick up.

And i dont see why we cant have flood and covenant enemies on the map.

  • 01.27.2012 6:48 PM PDT

The argument on this thread is shameful.

  • 01.27.2012 8:28 PM PDT

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

This all seems to go along with Transformers: War for Cybertron's escalation mode, if anyone has played that before. All weapons can be bought, doors opened, power ups, and more enemies as the game goes on.

Forerunner weaponry? Uh-oh.

Remember what Forerunner Builder Security (Not even full Warrior-Servants) can do? I don't have Cryptum on me, so I can't pull up page numbers, but weren't the infantry tearing up portions of the crust of the planet?

This game mode will likely require the biggest map ever, along with destructible terrain.

Unless they nerf the weaponry back to Sentinel Beam levels (And I'm not talking about the Onyx Sentinel beam).
