Subject: war is over after halo3? I just don't get it

1. The flood is on earth. That will be a huge pain in the ass. right? Even the forerunner couldn't do it, how will we?
2. We didn't just stopped them, we blew up all halos. No more great journey. How piss off will covenant be? We are 10 times more dead.

~Hey, it's that guy you are!~

1. The flood infestation - and half of Africa (slight exaggeration) were glassed by the Shipmaster in a Halo 3 cutscene. No flood.
2. Leaders dead, no Elites. Brutes reverting back to primal instincts = no more Covenant. Remnants perhaps but nothing like we fought in the games.

I don't understand your point here. Could you elaborate please?

1. Maybe , but it just seems way to easy to win like this. Or the flood is really dump, did back up some.
2.It seems covenant hate us very much. And I believe religion is very stubborn. And I think new leaders new will be made soon.
Maybe I dig too much. I will just take your answer for it, thank you.

The Gravemind's priority was getting to the Ark, if he took that then the Halos wouldn't have been able to be fired. He had no need to control Earth, it wasn't his priority.

2.It seems covenant hate us very much. And I believe religion is very stubborn. And I think new leaders new will be made soon.

The Prophets are gone, even by 2559 (6 years following the end of the war) they've fled to an unknown location. The Covenant is finished, the client races disbanded.

hard to believe they will just stop like that , their home plants are still almost untouched. Just give up a religion like that, how will they live any more?

And the flood is really lazy, all the time. didn't go to too much places.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

First you need to understand San 'Shyuum history. Their religion was based on worshiping the Forerunner technology left behind. However, the bulk believed that using the technology was heresy. A few thousand boarded and stole the Forerunner Dreadnought, taking off with with, and removing a chunk of their planet with it. This is what High Charity would be built around later.

So this means that the San 'Shyuum (Prophets) that are a threat to humanity are limited in number. After the Great Schism, most, I believe, would have been killed off, and those that survived would have sought exile.

Thanks, nothing to do at the moment

You are assuming that their faith was ever really that strong to begin with. It was not. Also, they do not have the infrastructure or resources to carry on a war like that, and without a strong leadership and central doctrine the tensions between various races would cause the Covenant to eventually split up anyway. There will probably be another war though, but not for religious reasons.

we blew up all halos.

we blew up installation 04 twice - in "Halo CE" and the reconstructed one at the Ark in "Halo 3". The Covenant glassed installation 05.

so even if the glassing disabled 05, there's still 5 other Halos out there, right?

Actually I think it's 10.

Actually after Halo 3 the Covenant falls apart.
*MAJOR BOOK SPOILER* (Glasslands)

After the Arbiter lands on Earth he is transported back to Sangheilos where he is temporary leader. (San 'Shyuum no longer rule) Many Sangheili want to go back to war with the humans since they were never trained to do anything besides command and conquer. The food supplies on Sangheilos are full, but may not be if they don't get busy learning how to farm. Some Elites want to assassinate the Arbiter.

ONI sends operatives to stimulate the growing insurrection on Sangheilos by providing weapons, ships, etc. In short, the UNSC wants to keep the Sangheili fighting each other to keep them from attacking Earth again. Also if you read the book....well you'll just have to read it to find out more.

As to your original comment, it might help you figure out a few things if you read the books.

i'm not sure, i use halopedian for reference, when in doubt. accoring to that there were 12 halos, 5 destroyed, makes 7 that were fired. minus two (04 & 05) makes seven.

  • 01.25.2012 1:37 PM PDT

There were 7 HALOS

HERP DERP!

2 destroyed. 5 left.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Prophets
-Only 1000 left
-Vanished

Brutes
-Fought Elites
-Started to fight themselves

So basically without the two main factions of the Loyalist Covenant left, can there really be a Covenant anymore? Frankie thinks so.

You should really go back an play Halo 3. It ties all that stuff you mentioned up quite nicely.

Because he's the director of the series and knows what will happen and how it will play out. Yeah, what a douche he is.

Michael Dietrich Frers

I think that we will find all of this out in Halo 4. If we fight the Covenant, than they are able to band together. If not, the alien alliance is dead forevermore.

Twisting words will get you nowhere Ruby. If you play Halo 3, read The Return and Glasslands, it's apparent that the Covenant is done. The member races aren't, but the organization is. I sincerely hope he was talking about the races.

  • 01.27.2012 3:26 PM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

When Frankie said that they're not done with the Covenant yet, he must surely mean that they'll detail some of its previous endeavours from before the whole coalition was dissolved. Because as far as canon is concerned, by the end of Halo 3 there is no more Covenant, the client races split and buggered off.
