1.) Some of you say that the Brute Shot's blade is a "huge" blade that weights a lot and that's why it works in Halo. The only problem is that it's weight and size would actually make it worse of a weapon unless striking downward (which isn't how you melee with the Brute Shot). So it's weight and size actually don't help your point out, the blade and tip are what matters when talking about penetration, and a Combat Knife can be just as sharp and pointed as the blade on a Brute Shot.
Ever hear of momentum of a blade like that? If it was heavy enough, it would easily rip through metals
2.) Do you even know anything about a Combat Knife? You guys think that Combat Knifes are these small pocket knives that people carry around, well your way off. The standard US military Combat Knife is a hunting knife that's usually 7" long and has been used since the 1890's and has been carried into battle by generations of Marines since WWII. A Machete is even classified as a Combat Knife in some infantry units.
Yes, a knife is effective against flesh, but steel?
3.) Some of you think that a Combat Knife wouldn't be able to penetrate the futuristic Armor/Shields in Halo. So tell me, how does using the butt of a gun work so much better then? And what about when Brutes knock your shields out with one punch? Or how Hunters can just charge into you and knock your shields out? They work to take out shields, why wouldn't a Combat Knife? Theoretically a pointed object would actually penetrate a Force Shield easier then a blunt object because of the stress put on the shield per square centimeter.
A force shield is just something that blocks anything that hits it. "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" All it does is provide an equal reaction to protect the Spartan, until it cannot provide an equal opposite reaction. The sharpness of the object has nothing to do with it
4.) Some of you say that it's to "primitive" a weapon for the future of Halo. What are you talking about? the Halo timeline takes place in the year 2552, that's only 546 years in the future. The Human race has been using knives since before recorded time! So if we haven't stopped yet, why would we in a mere 546 years? And besides! How do you know that a Combat Knife of the future will be the same as the Combat Knifes now? Maybe it's made of a different material, maybe it's blade is laser produced, ect.
5.) Some of you say that there's no place for a Combat Knife in the Halo games, yet in the books there's a Spartan that uses only Combat Knives. A Machete was even going to be put into the games by bungie themselves, and a Machete is classified as a Combat Knife by some military infantry.
What military infanty are you referring to?
Come on, what are some of your other "reasons" why a Combat Knife shouldn't be in Halo, cause I can tell you right now, their just bs.
