Certain parts of the warthog are more vulnerable than others (As goes all vehicles). You can't always drive like a maniac and expect to own like you did in previous games (Which... as has been said has its positives and negatives). You have to be much smarter about it.I wouldn't be against that kind of balance, but currently Reach's vehicle mechanics do not reflect what you have posted. No matter how good you are, you have a limited amount of life driving vehicles that doesn't regenerate (and good luck trying to drive a Warthog or Falcon against a coordinated team and lasting more than 30 seconds). Putting a cap on the maximum effectiveness of vehicles does not promote skilled gameplay.
I wouldn't be against a system in between Halo 3 and Reach where vehicles have a set amount of health for 90% of the vehicle's life. After the vehicle's health gets low enough all occupants start taking more damage from enemy fire than if they were driving a new vehicle. In this system there would be no set amount of life vehicles have and the vehicles won't just blow up out of nowhere from one stray DMR bullet.
