The whole Halo frachise was built on "The Big Man in Green". I hope Bungie doesn't put any other playable characters in Halo 3 besides the Chief. Because when people say Halo, you see Master Chief in your head and that's what made the game such a wonderful experience in the first place.

i know, cuz like when the Arbiter was introduced it didn't give you that "Halo" feeling and made it a different game.

  • 05.15.2006 6:21 PM PDT

i also agree, as much as i hate to say it...the arbiter killed halo 2's campaign for me...most of my friends gave up with the campaign and went straight to live...they play for hours on end yet still cant get themselves to finish the game

I strongly feel that Halo: Combat Evolved had a more fun Campaign because of this. The Arbiter should pack up and leave.

I think the Arbiter can still be in the game, but not as a playable character. He should be one of your immortal allies like Johnson or Halfjaw. In the end, I think he should die somehow.

The life and world you see is just a cheery toped and sugar coated version. You know nothing of Hell. Unknown to you and everyone around you is that there is a war going on that you can't see. Now that you know, you are part of it. And if you are going to survive, your going to need to learn to pull the trigger.

i know this may sound wierd, but i refuse to kill Marines when i'm the Chief. then in Halo 2 i played as the Arbiter, and was like WTF? so i just killed all the grunts for fun.

  • 05.15.2006 6:23 PM PDT

I liked playing as the Arbiter... for one. Like someone said, it makes it a new game. How would you have liked the first Halo to have just been repackaged then shipped with the tag "Halo 2"? That's basically what it would have been.

I have no prob with the Arbiter being in the game. Just don't make us play as him Bungie.... please. Halo 3 needs to be 100% hardcore Master Chief in your face action!!! Am I right... huh? Am I right?

I totally agree, but it would be wierd to have the Arbiter pop up in Halo 2 and not show up playable in Halo 3. I'd rather you play predominantly as MC, and FINISH THE -blam!- -ING GAME AS HIM, but I do think the Arbiter should have some play time, just to make it make sense.

  • 05.15.2006 6:29 PM PDT

i quote from the Halo 2 stratey guide when explaining the switch at the beginning of the leven The Arbiter..."But here we are: you now take the role of the Arbiter!...Dont worry: the action will return to the Master Chief in a while." Seems like they anticipated people not enjoying the roll as Arbiter...but they still put in in anyways?

"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move." -Douglas Adams

BigGhostrider66 needs to stop complaining and trying to influence a storyline that has already been written.

I didn't like playing as the Arbiter at first and I would still rather play as the Chief. However, I liked the fact that he was a playable character in the game. See, I'm more of a story driven gamer and I really like seeing different views to the same story and learning new things about the Halo universe. The Arbiter gives you the chance to do that, a new view for a richer story.

I think the Arbiter should be possesed by the flood, and you can play as them. Then in one level u should be the MC and have to kill it. that would be shweet.

I hope bungie kills off the arbiter....or dosent incorperate him into the story at all. I hated the Arbiter levels, and im a huge fan of Halo and Bungie.

Nah. The Arbiter showed the good side of the Elites and that they are a race with thoughts and ideas, not mindless killing machines. I sympathized with the guy, and I hope he returns.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Yes, leaving only a gaping hole in the story... You, my good man, are brilliant...

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

If Halo 3 went back to its real roots then wouldn't it have the Security Officer?

I agree, arbiter killed the campaign for me, and screwed up the story.

For shizzle. I love just Chief in a Halo game. It's way more fun and when I play Halo I want to play as the Master Chief not some jerk. Whenever I came up to an Arbiter level it sucked cause it was like I wasn't playing to save Earth I was helping the enemy. SUCKED. Whatever Bungie hopfully knows what they are doing this time about it. You never know till you try, they did it just didn't work out to great.
