It was because of the Arbiter's character that the Halo franchise became something more then just a real good FPS. This was the first game I ever played with real characters (in the literature sense) as enemies. Halo is that start of games becoming more then just mindless action. I want games to become an art form and not just some nerdy, youthful, aggression outlet.

There Is No Spoon

I disagree in the novels there are still 5 spartans left, and it would be a storyline disater if they left the arbitar out *not to mention they filled that role with a semi-famous actor* It's time to make sense of Co-Op and have each of you dfferent players... not to mention 4-player online co-op would be a nice alternative to being modded and bridged...

The whole Halo frachise was built on "The Big Man in Green". I hope Bungie doesn't put any other playable characters in Halo 3 besides the Chief. Because when people say Halo, you see Master Chief in your head and that's what made the game such a wonderful experience in the first place.

I couldn't agree with your more on this one. It was good to help us understand things from the Covenant perspective (playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2 that is). But I want to play just as the Chief. I don't want to have mixed feelings, I just want to beat the -blam!- out of them Covies ***tards. May be its too radical, but that's where the fun is. I don't want to play as some sorry butt covenant commander (he's cool, but no). I want to be in the boots of a kick butt Spartan and that too, particularly 117.
Thank you Bungie.

i know this may sound wierd, but i refuse to kill Marines when i'm the Chief. then in Halo 2 i played as the Arbiter, and was like WTF? so i just killed all the grunts for fun.

LMAO!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA>>.see, that's what I was talking about earlier. Nice man!

All people who don't like the Arbiter saw was a charcter that was'nt the Chief and wrote him off unjustly, and as a result did'nt pay nor cared about his side of the story, but his side of the story is very important. In my case I rather like the Arbiter, and the Elites for that matter as I understand them now. They are'nt just some enemy hell bent of destroying us, if anything they are reluctant in what they are doing and (as is written in the Conversations from the Universe handbook) don't whole heartly understand nor agree with why Humanity has to be destroyed. They were used by the Profits and are as much victims of there leaders corruption as we are. That is what I think Buungie was trying to convey in Halo 2, and there goal was to portray the Elites in a differnet light which they did if you cared to pay attention. How will that all play out in Halo 3 though? We'll just have to wait and see.

hmmm...he has a point too you know. HMMM
You know what, Bungie, please make the game the way you want to. Don't listen to us too much on this one. I'm sure we all can look forward to a Halo experience that will go down the immortal memory lane. Cheers!

But... you dont kill marines when your the arbiter.. you kill heretics and flood... common enemies of both the humans and the covenant... and now the arbiter and the marines are allies.... no offence intended

totally agree with ya mate, john has been there for both games and it looks as though he is returning in the third but the arbiter was in the second. To some it may have been a bad idea to put the arbiter in Halo 2 but to take him out in Halo 3 could potentially wreck the storyline and i personally would prefer to see both characters make a return.

  • 05.16.2006 1:48 AM PDT

I agree. Have him in the story, I just don't want to play as him. I didn't like shifting perspectives all the time, it really ruins the campaign experience.

i didnt seem to enjoy the albitor levels as much as playing as chief.....however it was great to see the politics and the covenant religious understandings of halo through him. For that purpose i feel he is a important part in understanding the full story

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

I will welcome the Arbiter back with open arms when he returns to smite you infidels. Long live the Sanghelli!

"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but I can't accept not trying." - M. Jordan

You have the right idea for what will make Halo 3 a better game. Hopefully Bungie won't mess up this time and look at the differences in Halo CE and Halo 2. I think it would be easier for them to look at how cool Halo was and why campaign sucked in Halo 2.

Definatly just needs to be the chief, and he needs to be briefed by Cortona..the occasional meet up with some marines. Then get some radio dispatch from the sarge..that is what Halo was all about..

Halo 3 will should just have a more epic story to finish it off with the graphics to make it much cooler.

Well said, I hate the Arbiter and I think he was just a lame excuse because Bungie needed more levels. He shouldnt be in Halo 3, or at least defiantly not a playable character in it. He will probably be in the game some way because Johnson, Miranda, The Oracle and Him are all basically stranded on Halo.

The arbiter is a valuable part of the storyline and those who say he should be removed are being very short sighted besides i like the arbiter and the chief both for diffrent reasons?

I have no prob with the Arbiter being in the game. Just don't make us play as him Bungie.... please. Halo 3 needs to be 100% hardcore Master Chief in your face action!!! Am I right... huh? Am I right?

I would have to agree with you. That was my one let down in H2 was having to play as an elite. I know the elite story line is pivotal to the overall story, but there has to be a way to tell it without playing as the arbiter.

I diddnt mind playing the convertant in halo 2 its good because it makes you stive to finish that extra level so you can play master chief again. So i think its good to have a rest from MC as it makes it more enjoyable when you only play him 25-30% of the time
