After Halo: First strike there were 4 other surviving spartans other than the chief. When they didn't show up in Halo 2 I just told myself that they were guarding other battle clusters, but for Halo 3 I would really like an explaination on where they are, or better yet an appearance.

Don't procrastinate later! Do it NOW!

I dont think the books and the games should be compared this much...

But trying to figure out the story is half the fun of the game.

yeah, an appearance (or even a chance to play) would be awesome. Plus co-op would actually make sense. And it'd just be plain cool to have four Spartans (obviously with way better AI), just dominating the battlefield, totally leaving the marines in their dust.

They're at Disneyland, enjoying what they missed their whole lives...
or maybe they're just waiting to come out.

Yeah i have to agree. Co op would be much more enjoyable. You would actually have different tasks, and be an ACTUAL different character, instead of just a clone of your teammate.

Well, think of it as being a war in space, and there are only 4 spartans. They are battling all across the milky way galaxy, so i think they could be a good number of places. Doesnt anyone know that bungie said the games dont follow the books?

Four other spartans fighting beside you...kick ***. Of course they would have to be invincible like Johnson in Halo 2 but can you imagine Linda picking off every freaking enemy in sight with her sniper rifle?....I really hope bungie puts them in.

Mabye they say that but its a load of bull. Anyone whos read the books knows that "The Flood" was an almost exact copy of halo 1. Too much a copy if you ask me...but as of now, they are following the books. Weather they continue to follow the books (or the books follow them i should say) is yet to be seen...

Hmmmm... 4 surviving spartans plus new spartans.......I do remember in Halo: Fall of Reach it mentions Mendez going to train a new generation of spartans....maybe this is the second batch....and there are four surviving spartans from First Strike....it could be a freaking Spartan army! Battle of Thermopyle anyone?

I'm refering to Cassandra from the letter in the special edition as being a possible new spartan by the way.

There are only 2 Spartans left. There is the Girl with Hasley, and Fred. I belieeve so.
So there really are only 3 left. And Fred pretty much dies, and Hasley, and danr, the other girl spartan, are in some distant part of the galaxy, near some rogue cell in the middle of no where.

Well when the battle for Reach was taking place, 3 spartans couldn't join the fight with MC and the others, because they were too far away in another galaxy, and then there is James, Fred, Linda, and Kelly. And I really don't think that bungie is going to include the books into Halo 3 because not everyone has read the books and for the people who haven' t, they would just be confused.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

When they got to Earth, Linda, Will, Fred, and John split up and went their seperate ways after the main awards ceremony, then John stayed in space for the awards given to him, Johnson and Keys' next of kin. The other Spartans went to Earth and probably each main continent got one..

Kelly is alive as well, but she went with Dr. Halsey somewhere...a good theory about where they go and why can be located here.

if you look on the inside cover of the books it says "books based off of award winning game Halo Combat Evolved" or something along those lines. The books are based off the game, not that game based off the books. Therefor the game does what ever the frig it feels like, and the books fill in the gaps for the halo freaks....

But, if the Books are integrated with the Story Line of the game why didnt Fred, James, and Linda show up in Halo 2 there is no reason they shouldn't have.

WHAT!?!!?

the books AND the game ARE halo!

now way around that!

and you don't have to compare them, they're the same story!

The books have been stated as being canon by teh Bungie staff, unless they rescinded that statement since I last heard, though I highly doubt it. This means that, while things in the books might not be explicitly in the games, both the games and books are based off the Halo Bible (the 600 years of Halo history that Bungie has). Therefore, comparisons between the games are books are completely valid.

Why dont some of you theorize on this maybe we will have something new to talk about. Read pages 4 and 5 in the Halo: CE instruction manual. It sats someething about the Spartan-II soldiers are recalled to reach for further augmentation and the Chief is the only one that wasn't part of it.

There a one moth gap between the Start of Firts Strike and the end of Halo 2. We don't know what happened in that time so we don;t know where the SPartans that were alive at the end of First Strike are.

Actually, there are four spartans that return to earth with the chief and sarge, plus kelly who was "kidnapped" by dr. halsey.
