Anyone else feeling a little iffy about the way boarding the vehicle is done? You know, when you steal the vehicle from someone else. I dunno. I saw a mutiplayer movie and the ghost was borded like 3 times in a matter of seconds!! I just feel like eveyone will take advantage of that feature and overuse it. Anyone else agree?

This is not the final version! I think that in the final, it will be a little harder than it was in the demo. Bungie will balance it out.

Bungie said it's a little bit easier to do in multiplayer in order to keep the gameplay fluid, but it's more complicated to do in single player, of course.

Well if you looked closely enough, you'd have noticed that it was edited to look that way (I think?). Somone who played Halo 2 at Fanfest said that it was not as easy as it looked, he tried a bunch of times but to no avail (I think his name was snyper wolf or something).

As I've stated previously, when you board a ghost you should just boost right away, distancing you from the boardee.

But, yea I agree I can forsee some abuse problems croping up in the future (Like Jedi Knight 2's spinning lightsaber attack [when the game first came out, people could use this attack to basically do an insta kill move], or Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow's shock, sticky cam combo [still a major problem]) But! I think if there is a serious problem, even after the game comes out, Bungie will address it.

I'm a PC user, so I'm used to a plethora of patches for many of the games, but can Xbox games get patched? I have a feeling they can, but I'd like to confirm it...

If you look even closer you'll realize that the ghost was barely even moving. They came to almost a full halt everytime. If they had actually wanted to get away, they very easily could have, that was only a demonstration.

You'll also note... no one who has played it has complained about it yet. The IGN guys found an odd quirk to it... but he'd still rather have it then not.

(That quirk will likely be nothing after we've all had some experience.)

also let me remind u when u get "boarded" u get kicked like 13 feet or more away, the guy (with da boost) could get awau very quickly,

i think thats why they added a boost

also if ur talking about the 19 second clip, that was edited to look fast, and if ur talking about the 8 minute demonstration, they were letting eachother board the guy even sais "here max, let me make it easy for you"

I originally didn't like the idea of boarding when it was announced over a year ago...but its grown on me. I too see ppl abusing it, unless what they could do is have you take damage when you're hit off. Thus, the actually constant flipping around over and over again would eventually result in one of your deaths. But someone else already pointed out that the moment you board to pull the left trigger to boost away preventing them from getting back on. But to avoid being boarding, all you'll have to do is not slow down. I can already see ppl trying to board and then the moment you think they're about too try and board, you nail the boost running them over. It actually sounds like it could be pretty fun...

Simple Truth. If you're worried about being boarded when you run someone over.... then maybe you should don't slow down?? Just mow forward, slap on the boosters. If you miss, just take a wide arc around and then do it again. Sooner or later you'll get him.

Seriously... wasn't it annoying when some guy in a ghost would approach you zig zagging back and forth a few feet at a time... moving at just above a walking pace because he knew you couldn't do anything against him with your measely plasma pistol?

Yea, but they were harldy moving, so it was or seemed to be quite easy. When you play with your friends I am sure they will not sit there and wait for you to hijack their vehicle like in the video.

If you're smart you simply wont leave yourself open to boarding.

Yah, all of the reviews from gamespot, IGn, and gamespy arcade state that boarding is a -blam!-. It is a cool feature though, especailly when u take over the enemies RL in the hog and then proceed to shoot them. But yah, the reason why the vids make it seem easy is that is a demo, and these guys have only played Halo2 for the first time.

The movie is on IGN. It's the mutiplayer one, not the demo one.

if i go on live and someone nicks my ghost i would just learn my lesson the hard way then get a plasma granade and stick it to the ghost.
a bit like "if i can't have it then neither of us will have it!"

  • 05.15.2004 6:16 AM PDT

I'm alone, where is my microphone.

Well if you look at the twenty second demo both times when the Ghost is boarded it is either going really slow or stopped giving them time to get on. All you have to do it just go, don't slow down. And don't be afriad to mow down your friend. (Meaning in Halo when you just stopped short or moved out of the way of your buddy when he jumped right in front of you.)
