Subject: Being Betrayed

They should find a way to punish people who kill people for their weapons or people who intentionally are trying to get killed by teammates.

There was this one time where I was driving a warthog, a teammate jumps straight in the way and i get booted for my first betrayal.

I also see a lot of people who kill teammates for the sniper rifle, if you are about to be betrayed you should be able to defend yourself.

If these problems could be solved it would be greatly appreciated by almost all halo players.

Agreed. I was playing BTB slayer on Hemorrhage and this -blam!- was shooting the Revanant I was in with an overcharged plasma pistol so I could move. I think the -blam!-s gamertag was "NineHungryNuns" or something.

If people do that to me, I usually betray them. If I get booted, so be it. It doesn't happen often enough in a day for me to get banned. I also give them bad rep.

"You are, all of you, vermin. Cowering in the dirt, thinking... what, I wonder? That you might escape the coming fire? No. Your world will burn until its surface is but glass! And not even your Demon will live to creep, blackened, from its hole to mar the reflection of our passage; the culmination of our Journey, for your destruction, is the will of the gods! And I...I am their instrument!"

*Cough* for some reason every time I get the wraith/power weapon/vehicle before somebody else, I have my game ruined by a -blam!- 3 year old raging at me or generally ruining my game (blocking shots, stealing kills, betraying). The advantage to playing with a lot of higher ranks and older players (I am only 14 here) is that they respect you and play the way it should be.

Yeah, the betrayal system is pretty terrible. In a game of Oddball on Condemned, I decided that if I got the ball I would see how many times I could betray my teammates before I got booted (my friend, who was the entire reason I was even playing Reach in the first place, had to leave). I betrayed my other two teammates 4 times. EACH.

I think they should either take out friendly fire altogether, or just let you betray without penalty.

  • 01.27.2012 5:05 PM PDT

The only problem with that is that you could stick your teammate in the back and have him charge into a group of enemies.

If you never give up, you never lose.

Taking away friendly fire is not the solution, to those who had that in mind. Friendly fire encourages cautious play with power weapons, and bad power weapon / vehicle users should be punished for them not caring.

A game developer can only design the game. They can't prevent jerks from being jerks. Not without hurting gameplay for the other honest players.

Gotta love Halo :)

Thats how I could afford halo!

I agree with the OP.
It frustrates me when I work hard to capture a zone in invasion slayer, for example, get the power weapons, eg Rockets and Sniper, then get betrayed. This gives me no option to boot, yet when I find the guy and kill him they usually boot me immediately. That is the only time I ever betray, and luckily it rarely happens to me.

Make it so teammates cannot pick up a weapon if they betray a player.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

There's no way a mechanical system can tell the difference between this and this.

Friendly fire is something that halo has had forever. It makes you more careful with power weapons and grenades.

I especially hate it when you get the Sniper, do well with it, then some jerk decides to keep shooting you with the DMR to prevent you from scoping.

Then you've got a perfect opportunity to work on your noscopes.

Getting berayed accidentally is somewhat ok for me but I hate when people do it on purpose.

Im never the one to betray on purpose first. It just becomes a cycle and then someone gets booted

Meh, no scoping's hard when you're playing BTB and your targets are halfway across the map.

Banned just for calling someone retarded? lolBnet mods
Duardo = retard

So you think Reach is an actual Halo game, huh? LOL
Jesus! There's a BoB in ma Falcon!

I love betraying in infection and Hostball, but it does get irritating when someone betrays you for the sniper and then wastes all the shots because they suck ass with it.

Really, they should just take friendly fire off all together. I mean, whats the point of having it on? To accidently betray someone then get booted a second later?
