We're building a better world...all of them, better worlds.
Well I don't know the story line yet, but if Halo 3 is going to take place right after or even soon after Halo 2, it wouldn't make sense that any race would develop new technology, so there can't be any big changes. However, wouldn't it be cool if we saw some new weapons in which the races are starting to assimilate each others' technology? It makes sense that we would pick up a plasma rifle and learn how it works. If you noticed in the teaser, though, the MC is carrying an assault rifle, not a BR. Personally, what I would really like to see is a blend of CE weapons and H2 weapons. I'd like to have the assault rifle back, but it should be beefed up a bit. The original pistol was amazing, but it didn't make sense that it would be that powerful. The magnum, though, in H2 isn't powerful at all, but it makes sense that some weapons won't be very effective. It's good for the game, too, because if you get stuck fighting an elite with just one SMG, you're like "well crap, what am I going to do?" I also don't want to see them do away with dual wielding. My optimal Halo 3 weapons would go something like this:
Humans
SMG
Pistol (somewhere between the original and the magum)
Assault Rifle (With a bit more power, though)
Battle Rifle (With Bungie's original design for automatic and semi-automatic capabilities)
Sniper Rifle
Shotgun (with choice of ammunition, slugs or scatter shot. Also maybe a choice for auto)
Rocket Launcher
Flame Thrower
Something fancy utilizing precision nuclear energy
Maybe a chain gun
Covenant
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Rifle
Carbine
Beam Rifle (but please don't put so many alien snipers in the campaign. Put like 5 BA snipers in the whole game so that we don't expect them.)
Energy Sword
Fusion Cannon
Brute Shot (I think it should kick more butt, though. Like each shot has the power of a frag.)
Maybe something crazy that also uses projectiles, like a saw blade launcher or something.
I dunno, I don't think too many new weapons would make sense, but I think it would be interesting to see each race learning to cope with fighting the other through their weaponry. I also just don't want to see many weapons go. I figure the 360 probably has the power to include all the ones they've been using so far, so why pretend like they don't exist in the Halo imaginary universe?
And dammit! Why doesn't the MC have night vision!?
