Rock music would be totally acceptable during heroic fights like the one in Halo 2 on Gravemind. But when the game comes to a sad end, emotional music must be played, like at the end of Halo 1 and 2. The Halo 3 Trailer music is pretty good, and infact, the best music I ever heard in a Halo game. You know the part after Cortana says, "I am your shield, I am your sword" and the Master Chief walks out and brings out his Assault rifle. Oh yeah, it brings back memories of Halo 1.

We kinda all know this, but at least someone brought up the point. Having the right music for the right time is keye (get it?) for music in games. Not doing so would be like in my school play where the idiot music director played disco music in the emotional parts!

(english is not my mother language).

The music in the halo series is the best video games music by all times.
Halo 1 was an amazing musical creation, and halo 2 used 2 new metal bands in it, and did it perfectly.
I would like to talk about the halo 2's music. Marty's music will be heard in halo 3, so i want to disscus about the other parts in the soundtrack.
For those of your who don't remember the new metal music in halo 2:
1. At the time that you get a yellow Banshee for the first time in the game (with the arbiter):
Incubus - Folow.
2. at the time you enter with the chief to the circle room in high charity - Breaking Benjamin - Blow me away.

now i think that it was a big succes.
first of all i think incubus must take part in at least 3 songs in halo 3. without words of course.
I think They should work on sad music, that sounds like a song that has words, but they were cut off.
secondly they have to work on blowing song. without solos! it's important. something that when you hear it, you must shoot at everything you see.
and Finaly they have to work on Emotinal song. Mike, their Guitarist, is also a piannist, and he have to come up with idea, and their singer - Brandon, should do vocals in this song, but without words.

Yes, Marty, take advice from a fan. Instead of trusting your years of musical work and finesse.

All I've gotta say is that listening to the right music puts you in the mood to kill everything in the game. =D

Playing stuff like Fiddy Cent isn't going to get you pumped...come on. Get some Breaking Benjamin, Atomship, Chevelle, Incubus...some stuff along those lines. That would be perfect.

I think that Marty should let Breaking Benjamin play another song in the new Halo 3.
The song is called PHASE and I think it would fit into the New Mombasa, Kenya theme in the Earth part of the Campaign. You hear me, FRANKIE?! Phase performed by Breaking Benjamin!!

Actually instead of using rock music for these heroic fights, I think Bungie would hire a metal band to help with the soundtrack.

No metal band from the U.S. though, I'm talking like the ones from Finland and Norway. :o

OOOKAAAAY, I agree with some metal. Infact, I have the two most perfect songs for this final chapter in Halo. The name of the band is: August Burns Red. The CD title: Thrill Seeker. The tracks are numbers 10(Eve of the End) and 11(The Seventh Trumpet). If ANYONE has heard these two tracks, you would 100% agree with me. If you haven't heard these tracks, I suggest you do so, they are an awesome Metal band.

Maybe a fight where a lot of flood are coming in towards the Master Chief and marines, and there's too many to handle, Like in the Matrix Revolutions,
(SPOILERS for movie "Matrix Revolutions")

You know, where all the Sentinels (hey cool, sentinel is also an enemy in Halo) come in and ambush the guys in the robot suits, they play sad music at a moment like that. With words or without words.

None of your piss-weak mommy-doesn't-love-me music thanks. Keep it cinematic.
