Full EOD With Mk. V Helmet = Halo Wars Spartan Armor

This should give you a sense of how much Foman bans people.

Foman banned me once. One year after I broke the rules.

Do you think he uses a FoHammer to ban people?

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I don't think there's any method of tracking bans. So, I can't empirically say that any ninja or employee has banned more people than anyone else. I can though, say that my gut tells me that Shishka has still probably banned more users than anyone else.

I used to keep records of people I banned, in case someone wanted to contest it. I'd log the username, date, ban length, and ban reason. I stopped counting at around 5,000, and I have to have banned another easy 5,000 since then. I'm one of the more lenient ninjas, so I'm sure Shishka, Foamy, TU, and a few others have surpassed that.

If you're talking about the most bans at once, I still have no idea. I once carpet banned well over 100 people in a particularity bad spam/troll topic in the Halo 3 forum.

Did I really just read this?

This thread was made a while ago about carpet banning. Allow me to share some comments from it about the term itself:

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the term "carpet banning" implies careless use of moderator tools, when that's simply not the case.

When people say "oh, you carpet banned," they are 100% incorrect, every time. If there is a thread that's obvious spam, or the OP is a shock site, I will warn everyone who replied to the thread for replying to a forum disruption. If they've received a warning for the same thing in the past, they will get a three day ban, if they've been banned for three days before, they will get a seven day ban.

That's about as cut and dry, black and white, as you can get.

e: Basically, each user is treated as an individual in a case by case manner.

It's called moderating, rule enforcing, whatever you want to call it, but the term carpet ban is just flat out lazy.

My point, is that I'd never expect to see a ninja use the term "carpet ban" to describe their actions.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

Good try at a "gotcha", but mass bannings were a part of the policy for the specific infraction in that forum at the time. TU is right about how individual users are handled for everything else. His opinion and justified rational does not extend to the thread in question, because we were told to strike hard and fast when we saw the topic, and behavior in the topic. It was policy. Using some verbiage which was years later redacted by a ninja doesn't hold water for your complaint. The policy was removed. TU never even had to enforce it. So you're comparing apples to oranges.

Again though, nice try at a "gotcha".

What was the specific infraction of which that was policy for?

To be clear, I'm not complaining. I just thought I saw contradictory statements from 2 ninjas, and thought I'd highlight them. I was unaware (rightfully so) of that policy change, and your explanation is more than adequate.

I hope you didn't think I meant anything by it.

We should give a random member the ability to carpet ban a single thread every month. That sounds like a good idea, and it should be done by a lottery.

I would probably say "Disembodied Soul."

Even though it's just a auto-messenger, it can still hand out bans to those who try to by-pass active bans on another account.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

I heard a rumor that back in the day, Stosh banned hundreds of people in a single day. Although, he may not hold the record for most bans. That'd probably be Achronos.

Fear him and his inclement weather of doom

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

We neither track nor are we concerned with such metrics.

I would imagine that the "most satisfying" feeling comes from when one either finds the queue clear, or clears it themselves, or when after scanning page one of a forum and making a few locks/warnings/bans, they notice that for a time, that forum appears to "play nice", even if for just a while.

But most bans? It's like asking the guys who work in the circus cleaning up after the elephants whose cleaned up the biggest pile of crap. After a while, poop is poop and you never take pride when the pachyderms leave you a large one.

I hear the Slayer notches his keyboard for every ban.

NO GROUP INVITES

Jesus took 3 days to respawn, talk about lag.

7 BILLION BY 7

If I had to pick it would have to be between Achronos, due to length of time spent here, and probably Pezz or Ash. Those two always struck me as the ban happy type :)

Um no, because then someone would carpet ban the Title FAQ thread and half the community would be banned!
I would guess that Yoozle might hold the most ammount of bans since hes been a Mod since 2004.
