So I played CoD a couple days ago (my mistake I know) and one thing I couldn't get over was the fact that each encounter happened so quickly. There was no thought other than "See the guy, aim down sight, pull trigger" with the occasional 'pro' going prone in the middle of it.
And then I played Reach. Each encounter was different (aside from spam nades, rush to melee, etc.) because it required more than seeing first and instantly shooting. You can prenade to gain the upper hand, switch to secondary, out-maneuver the guy, or back off and let your teammates clean him up (No, AL is not 'backing off'). Each fight felt more personal because it took more thought to it.
Now I understand players running away from fights are annoying (looking at you, Countdown), but at least when they do get in an encounter it's not over in an instant. With CoD you can kill somebody, die, and then respawn all under 5 seconds. That's way too quickly to have any interesting fights IMO.
What do you guys think?
