Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

because BUNGiE obviously didn't want you to use the banshee past that point, similar to how you cant get vehicles past that room in the Halo 3 level The Storm just after killing the first AA wraith

I found that barrier last night, flew the whole perimeter of it just to check it out. It has a kinda cool appearance, all dull but shimmery once you get right on it. Once you get at the right angle flying around it, you can see alot of it and it is rather cool!

I was a bit disappointed that there wasnt anything cool to be found flying under the bridge or to the top of the pylons, I was hoping to find some graffiti or something cool, but I am sure someone would have found it a long time ago!

Heh, use this method to get a banshee out there.

That is one way of doing it. Another way is to kill the pilot and very carefully push the Banshee down the tunnel so as not to damage it. As I recall, you should be able to get into it and fly at will after you get through the entrance of the tunnel.

I could be wrong, though, that was a few years ago now. I never achieved Scarab Gun status, so I'm no authority on it.

You are correct, it can be done but it's tedious as hell.

Couldn't you use a ghost or a warthog? I think I remember using a ghost and it blew up, but it seems too fuzzy in my memory.

It's real easy except for the two barriers you have to go over, the Banshees tend to blow up with the slightest bad move. I even take the Scorpion or a Wraith down to move all the big obstacles out of the way.

Also, when you get in the Banshee you can turn around and fly up the big tube that goes straight up and look around.

Spoilsports.

And I'm not talking about the barrier. I'm talking about how if you enter the Banshee past the barrier, it's certain death.

Better options at the time:

-well placed kill barriers when one is in the Banshee. Would have to navigate this maze to reach the end of the tunnel, which is free of any traps
-anti-air Covies spawn if one brings Banshee into the tunnel
-IWHYBD style challenge to earn the Banshee. It should be doable on Legendary as well

I think it is a shame you cant bring the banshee down the tunnel. I mean, if you are allowed a scorpion and a wraith why not a banshee?

It is funny when you hijack a banshee within the barrier and it sends the banshee flying back down the highway

Agreed.

Too bad it's not practical. I would have loved for Banshees to spawn near the beginning area and for there to be a Banshee barrier placed near the beginning as well.

Am I the only one seeing where an idea like this could lead to?

It's because you're not supposed to use the Banshee down the tunnel. It would make things easy i suppose. Also, it wouldn't be a challenge to get the Scarab Gun if you could just fly the Banshee down the tunnel. It's easy to lure a Banshee through the tunnel anyway.

Seems like pushing it would be harder than leading it through, so yeah.

Yup, I would not recommend doing it that way.
