So History mode can olny be sumed up in a billion words or less.

History Mode.

Point: You start off as a Marine playing yourself, so the story sets the Chief left and you a UNSC defender must fight battles all over Earth.

In other words this game is long and I am not about to give you a ARM (AR Modified) and let you fight moving slow and sucking complaining the idea sucked ass.

Heres what you get: You get besides a Gun and a right in the ARMY, you get new sprint features(yay) and the Medpac comes pack more useful thne ever.
Alright so you can sprint from building to building so you dont get owned by the Covenant, Medpacs are to heal you because you get a Health bar.

In the actual game you play through hundreds of cites fighting a losing battle agianst the Covenant (not because you suck, but because theirs too many of them), and who knows maybe your good enough to win some battles.

Anyway you actualy get a prize for kicking some real hard ass. You get Medels which would add to your gamer score and gamer points (if you dont have a 360 youll soon find out what I mean sp) So the Medels are as fallow, Medel of Honor (for winning the battle and nearly driving the covenant to the brink of the city, While keeping your 40% of your men alive), Medel of Valor( winning the city and keeping 20% of your men alive), and a Purple Heart(if you get wounded and dont heal the rest of the battle), then theirs no more Medels.

This seams resonable, (kind of) and just to make sure i didn't forget anything heres a quick summery.

You play as a Marine using Medpacs and lots of cover to survive the long journey you're being confronted with. You use a varity of tatics as you play through each city fighing for what is, your home world. Gain medels is many ways to add up your Gamer score and points. In all fight for the Earth while the Chief is gone, you are the last stand, the final defence.

No offense but this is one of the most stupid ideas for the game yet.

It doesn't fit into the story. Many of the things the Chief did only worked because of his armor, training, and integrated AI. I mean, after playing as the MC, do you really want to go back to being one of those guys you were constantly saving (or accidently running over in the Warthog)?

Cause they don't have shields. Shields are customary and you can't just put them on a Marine. The bulge on the suit's back? That's the shield generator I do believe (correct me if I'm wrong). In Fall of Reach it explains what happens when a Marine tests the MJOLNIR Mark III (I think it was) and well.....I feel sorry for that Marine. His arm moved so quickly, it literally snapped every bone in his arm. Then he tried grasping at his arm with the other one and well....*shudders* Man, what a horrible way to die.

Oh My God, no one has given a single reason why this mode would be bad God.

  • 05.16.2006 4:12 PM PDT

cool idea, if the chief hadnt already been established as the main character removing the maincharacter from any game franchise to highlight an extreamly obscure character's story is franchise suicide

I dont think any of you understand this is a side mode not the single player, and it does not affect the single player what so ever.

People don't like your idea, so just give it up. I, for one, also don't like it. We need more focus on the story, and being able to play as a marine would just be pointless. Being only the Master Chief (and yes, possibly the Arbiter) would help unfold the story better. Playing as a marine would reveal little to no story whatsoever, except for maybe "what happened to the marines."

I'll tell you what happened. Most of them died, and failed to save Earth. That was easy. No need to have a few levels to play as a marine now, do we?

Even with it being a side story, it'd just be pointless. Bungie would have to take time away to make these extra side levels, thus delaying launch and less work on the main concept. No thanks for me, sorry. [/IMO]
