Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Doesn't Bungie or Microsoft or whoever the money goes to get enough? Why do you have to turn something as simple as rendering films into something to make ca$h out of? People have to pay just to make montages to put on Youtube? Or even just to make short videos to show to friends, oh wait that CO$TS

It's not even anything really serious or even important enough to turn it into a 'service' you pay for. You're just rendering videos of game. You're millionaires anyway, it's like you're trying to turn every single little thing into an opportunity to make CA$H CA$H CA$H

It should just be like 20 quid for the ability to render, and that's it it you're done. But no, it's all about MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Because it isn't cheap to render the clips?

How

Key

They don't have to offer this service to you. It's a courtesy. They could shut down the service and make so that you have to go out and just buy a capture card and install it. But no.

They chose to offer you a service. You don't have to use their service. There are alternatives.

Stop being so ungrateful for something they're choosing to give you.

Also: since when is Bungie known to be a company that has piles and piles of money? That's M$FT, dude.

Rendering clips is cheaper than going out and buying a capture card unless you are making a machinima or something. You are pretty much paying for Bungie to download a clip, then capture it for you and upload it to their website.

Wheres Meh Sniper?

Youtube page

I have never tried to make a video by using the rendering system, it seems too time consuming.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

I think you have no idea what it takes to actually render a video.

They probably have a server running 24 hours a day accepting requests for rendering, and then they probably have a farm of 50-100 XDK (XBOX Development Kits) 24/7 running the videos and capturing it on a modified version of whichever Halo. Then it is taking the video, and uploading it onto the Bnet servers and which allows you to watch it 24/7. That's a lot of money in investment (XDK's are about $1,000 each if I remember correctly) not to mention that's a lot of money in electricity every month.

They are not YouTube either, they don't get money advertising videos. All the money comes from the person who wants the video.

I think if anything, the price is too low. If you want, you can buy a $200 capture card if you have a high-end powered PC.

Edit: Oh yeah, they aren't Microsoft anymore. All of it is run by Bungie.

Without overlays, you're looking at 1:1 (on a computer, I don't have data for what they are using) rendering times for videos at some resolutions. That is why it isn't a one-off thing. The people who don't render that much wouldn't be getting their money's worth, and the people who render a lot would strain the system. Much better for both parties in my opinion.

Ha, have you seen the people paying for CoD Elite? They're basically paying for the service that Bungie provided for free.
