Subject: Can the moderators detect alts?

They use Eagle Vision.

It's a special skill they learned from Achronos that allows them to see the purpose of every account made here.

I don't think so. The mods can't even see who locked a particular thread. Why would they be able to see personal information?

Do you consider an IP address is personal information? If so, why?

Admins most likely can tell alts by checking the IP address (provided they aren't using a proxy). The mods don't have any need to see IP's and get trolls on a per ban basis rather than a "obvious alt" technicality.

We know the site collects your IP address, but I'm not sure if the site actually pairs it to a user.

*For legal reasons the IP address has to be paired with the user [currently] using it. They need to be able to pass information on to law enforcement if a user does break the law.

*NB. May not be fully accurate but should be mostly correct

Doubtful.

IPs are so easy to change that I doubt they'd bother to do anything with that information even if they had access to it.

Dolphins, man. Dolphins. They are gonna take over the world, and kill us all, man! THEY'LL KILL US ALL! Oh no, they will start with Gondile. Haha, hell if they are gettin' me! No way man, I'll kill 'em. I'll kill them all!!!

Mods have spidey senses for these kind of things.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

No that I know of. If they could ban a person and their alts, the whole alts deal would be cut short.

From my understanding, (with experience of having a banned alt.) the site detects alts by tracking the IP of your computer that the alt was last signed into on. If your alt. is banned and you sign in to another profile on the computer that the account was banned on, you will recieve an automatic 2-day ban from the Disembodied Soul.

What if 2 users share a computer?

Then both users will recieve a ban. Unless one of the other users do not sign in when the other person's account is banned, but if so, then an automatic ban will be issued to the user sharing the computer.

Blade, auto-banning is done using cookies, not IP address. Big difference. :)

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Yes, through IP address viewing.

Like Peter Parker's spidey sense, Ninjas have their bungie sense which allows them to detect an alt from two pages away!
