Ok heres how it works
I think the halo rings act like giant stargates or teleportation devices.
Remember Halo CE when guilty spark said ''this galaxy will be quite devoid of life"
He never said halo rings kill things.
They could work by teleporting the flood out of the galaxy or telepoeting us to another galaxy. This means that the forunners could still be alive, they are just in another galaxy. I know guilty spark and cortana also say the rings kill things but maybe they only have access to information the forunners let them have.

This also supports the covenants 'great journey' because it teleports them then it is a journey, A journey to fnd the forunners.

Also if you watch the trailer the ark actvates in a purple explosion. What is this similar to? The slipspace regret did in New Mombassa.

I the halo rings teleport everyone to anoter galaxy except for the flood this means there could be a forerunner homeworld similar to earth because humans are the forerunners.

Imagine that now we can have an epic battle humans and forunners VS covenant.

Remember that he also said that the rings kill all sentient life.

They kill all life within three (3) radii of the galactic core.

Halos DO kill things. They were activated once before, resulting in the certain deaths of the entire forerunner race, and anything with a high enough biomass to be concidered a sentient lifeform, which is why the Flood Infection forms survived. The only way to kill them is to shoot and kill every last one of them, or starve them to death over millions of years as they can lie dormant for almost ever.

Shouldn't there be fornner corpses or something like that then?
There is nothing left but the rings, isn't that a bit strange if the rings just kill things?

I suppose but I think there would have been more things than just them and the rings

WARNING!! THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!!
I keep wondering just HOW they kill things. The thing is, they can't just explode and they can't just send things to another galaxy because it would have to take the planets with it. We know this isn't true because if you notice, Threshold's Halo still exsists and if it has already activated, which it HAS, then it would have taken Threshold with it. If it just suddenly appeared next to Threshold, it would have gone crazy because of it's instant orbit and crashed into the planet. If it was built BEFORE Threshold formed, which it wasn't, then it would have been destroyed as the planet formed. So how does it know to just kill/teleport the living things? My opinion is it might produce some fast acting nano-virus that kills anything with DNA similar to the Forerunners. Where did I get this information? It just popped into my head.
