In the Cortana Letters Tartarus is mentioned. I know he was Halo 2, but he is mentioned as the creator of the underworld, now we believe that Gavemind represents Lucifer, correct? Well, if that's so, do you think that Tartarus survived and is still controlling Gravemind?

May the Great Journey await you, may your enemies writhe in hell, and your line continue forward, and gain honor. May your scattered body go beyond the limits of your mind... Beyond the limits of our worlds, to the places our ancestors dream and sang of, and the Prophets speak of.

Tartarus is Dead. The Arbiter killed him...

Therefore Tartarus can not "Control" The Gravemind.

Read: What if he survived?

I vividly remember putting several carbine rounds through his head.

Maybe the gravemind ressurected him the way he ressurected Regret? I vivedly remember punching his brains into oblivion, but there he is, asking to finish his sermon.

Was Gravemind on the Halo ring where the Arbiter killed Tartarus?

Yeah, same ring. Different part, but some flood could have carried him to the Gravemind, or Gravemind could be bigger than we think.

But if Tartarus was ressurected through the Gravemind, then the Gravemind would control Tartarus, not the other way around.

Possible, but sometimes the parasite controls the host, in fact, most of the time the parasite controls the host, at least in SciFi, look at Stargate, there's a big example right there.

Ok, let's suppose that that is the case. The Gravemind consumed one of the prophets, so would that Prophet allow the Gravemind to consume the covenant ship it infested?

Probably not.

I concur with the possiblity that Tatarus may have been consumed and ressurected through the Gravemind, but I think that now Tartarus is just the Gravemind's tool.

Indeed, but that means a tough enemy is still out there, quite possible we'll see Tartarus in the next game, a flood infected Tartarus, that is.

That could be very true. I'm still unsure of why the Gravemind consumed the Prophet and the other similar 343 GS character.

you mean 747 Pentient Tangent? For knowledge, how else would he have learned about the activations of Halo and exactly how to do it?

Oh, I see.

So by consuming Tartarus he would also have access to a wealth of Covenant knowledge. Perhaps since Tartarus was more closely affiliated with Prophet Truth, Tartarus would have knowledge of different plans that the Prophet Regret may not have had the knowledge of.

Indeed? Then how did Gravemind get Regret, maybe Gravemind, is more like Graveminds. A group of entities with one conciousness, much like the Borg from Star Trek.

Definatly, I think Truth knows about the True Purpose of Halo, as does Tartarus, but Regret did not.

Anybody thats read the halo novel First Strike remembers that twoards the end they have to go into a huge crater like thing like the one seen in the H3 trailer. In the book MC finds other spartans and they discover that there is a hidden artifact down there that the Covenant are after. On the H3 FAQ bungie says that there is a artifact buried under the ground and that readers of the Halo novels will recognize this place. so there must be more spartans coming
