Subject: Halo CEA Terminals Summary? Please help!!!

Okay so not reading any of the Halo books after Cole Protocol, I have no knowledge about any of the Forerunner based books. I've gone around look at other posts and see stuff like the Didact and the Timeless One. Can someone please be patient and tell me what I've been missing out on and how it relates to the Terminals? Thanks!!!

We should know better, because we are better.

Read the Halo 3 terminals, they explain some things.
Anyway, Didact was the commander of the Forerunner military. He was married to the Librarian, another forerunner. The Timeless One might be the last precursor, or he might not. The precursors were a race that came before the forerunners. They are connected with the flood and believed that everyone should be consumed by the flood. They believed that if everyone was absorbed by the Flood there would be peace. The ancient human empire was attacked by the flood because they were supposed to be absorbed but they fought back and the flood retreated because humanity's tenacity impressed them. They resolved to come back later but humanity got involved in a war with the forerunners who beat and devolved us into dozens of different races and left us on Earth.

The Forerunners made the Halos to fight the flood. Didact was commanding the Forerunner forces but they were loosing. The Librarian gathered up as many species as she could and took them to the two Arks. The Halos fired, beating the Flood. The Timeless One was killed by the Didact. Didact and the Librarian are MIA, possibly KIA.

100000 years later, here we are.

I recommend reading Cryptum, Primordium, and the Halo 3 terminals for a more complete view. Cryptum and Primordium don't need knowledge of any other canon to understand but reading the Halo 3 terminals may let you appreciate them more.

It's incredible, playing the first Halo and thinking how basic the story was. But then there was really this deep interlocking tale. Just a truly mind-blowing chronicle.

I'm sure it was a very basic story when CE came out. Each game/book/video has expanded the overall story.
