It's all about storyline.

One of the largest reasons the Halo series has become so popular.

Stop being stupid.

It's not based on The Bible per se. It's not the literal story of The Bible, but it is influenced by scripture.

Lots of literature and many movies have had Biblical themes, just because this is a game doesn't mean it can't be influenced by the Bible.

The Bungie Team is a very well read and educated group of people...I don't think Alex Trebec has a trivia question they couldn't answer. And you can tell so by their uses of Mythology and other items in their games. Most obvious being the name "Spartan"...which right now for some reason that piece of history eludes me...but just Google it.

nobody thinks its based on the bible,.. if they do than they are retarded. there arent any aliens, master chiefs, mutated flood people, or giant halos and crystals that mess up slipspace in teh bible...

if you meant, 'why do people think that parts of the bible such as scriptures and quotes are in halo,' than thats because they are right and there are. the bungie people felt like putting that stuff in there i guess i dunno.

some people have even called bungie a religious game company... their number is 7, God's number is 7.. and other crap. which is pretty far out considering a lot of stuff that has happened in bungies history but hey, you never know!

...Well I'm glad that worked, because those would have been terrible last words.

It's not based on the Bible. It's based on the Qur'an.

Duh.

I don't think so. I think people get this idea because Halo is a holy structure to the Covenant, and therefore people get this idea. Some people I have played multiplayer also think it is somehow a religious game because of the music at the menu.

Maybe all the holy talk in Halo 2 got people upset, who knows? But if you've played the game, surely you know how much it's influenced by religious stuff, whether or not it's from the Bible. As my grand-dad always told me, "Don't judge a book by its color."

I don't know whether Halo is influenced by the Bible, but I know for a fact that there are Biblical references in it.

I think Halo spans more than just biblical references for example the Qu'ran talks abot when to throw a Jihad which in english means Holy War.

From what I remember, Spartans were an elite group of soldiers in roman times. I don't recall exactly, so don't flame me if I'm wrong. I know their main colors back in history were red and gold (my favorite colors, lol) and that they were very good soldiers. They fought with a group of 300 soldiers against an army of 10,000 soldiers called "The Immortals."

The Spartans fought with spears and heavy shields, using them to completely block off any attacks from The Immortals." They fought for a long time, and they fought within a Valley. The Spartans were able to defend all of their sides, and even had fatigued soldiers rest in battle while the others fought!

Unfortunately, a traitor showed The Immortals a way to get around the Spartans and attack from behind, but they still were able to hold them back. Finally, the Immortals, facing heavy casualties, brought in their best archers to drown the Spartans with arrows. This is where this famous quote came from I believe:

Spartan#1: "I head the Immortals have so many archers, that they could cover up the sun!"

Spartan#2: "Then we shall fight in the shade!"

(something like that)

But yeah, I read about these guys awhile ago (before Halo, so HA) Ancient battles are very interesting to hear/ read about. Look it up sometime, if you have the opportunity to. (BTW, there were more battles then the one I described above)

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

References to a man by the name of John, an Ark, a Covenant, Prophets, etc., etc. I think it very well could have some relation to the Bible, but it's just as likely to be coincidental. Nobody really knows...

...

The Spartants were the warriors of Sparta, a militaristic Greek City State in ancient times. NOT ROMANS. GREEKS!!!

It's not coincidental.. All the names are planned. To what extent, is the real question.

I no that the battle actually did occur, but i dont no the specifics. All i know is that the 300 spartans held the line long enough for something important to hppen. I think they all died though. Not sure.
