yeah... but just to clarify... they are called Biblical Allusions.....

yeah... im not christian either... but seriously.... it is referenced by that... and many other cultures.... samurai code of honor????? Monkey king-tartarus whose very name is the greek pit of the titans... so yeah... it is semi-biblical but also... semi japanese, greek, and for all we know... based on early 18-19th century literature.... the AI Beaouwolf.... forgot how to spell it... is a monster in a book... that goes around eating people.... and stuff like that... read it 2 years ago... don't even ask why...

I agree, The Bible is the best book ever, but its not just a book it is the truth of what happened and what will happen. It tells of how life truly began and of how it will end. It also tells of how you can live with a God who loves you forever in heaven instead of burning fo eternaty in hell.

by the way, burning isn't fun and eternity sure is a long time.

... again.. minor biblical allusions....
there is more than one religion you know, but still if it is in there it is in there.... and that is all there is to it.... bungie got stuff from most of the world.... for help and inspiration in the game...

It's not really based on the Bible.
Sure, the covenant are religious and all. But don't forget--they are blinded by religion, they're extremists. The Bible mentions nothing about religious extremism. Also, like someone mentioned before...it is the Ark of the covenant. It doesn't really "save you from the flood" either. It just activates the rings, destroying their food source. If you were to apply that to the Bible, then here is how it would be written:
"So Noah and t3h animals got on t3h boat, the boat asploded, the people all died, and the flood was over." But in the Bible, everyone is A-Okay, and the flood subsides, unlike what would happen if you were to activate the ark in the Halo universe. In Halo, activating the ark kills the flood AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

Also, they are called the Flood because they pour in and come in massive numbers. They quickly flood cramped areas and beat the crap outta you.

Also...the storm around the Dome structure...first off, how can the dome structure be the ark? It is one third into the game, yet the ark has been activated? I guess we can kiss the other two thirds goodbye. No, I think it is a structure similar to the one in High Charity...meaning it's not the ark. So, in the bible, there is a storm around the ark. But in Halo, since there is a storm around that dome structure which ISN'T the ark, then there is no symbolism connected to the Bible in that aspect.

I no that the battle actually did occur, but i dont no the specifics. All i know is that the 300 spartans held the line long enough for something important to hppen. I think they all died though. Not sure.

I know they did. They were under a constand Hail of arrows to pin down the Spartans. I also know that Spartans didn't like Archers because they barely ever engaged in close combat ^^ (AKA they'd hate snipers today, lol) But yeah, they were doomed to begin with, but they did a massive amount of damage to the Immortals. (in our times, OWNED!)

Maybe that is a refrence of how the spratans in Halo can't do squat if the covanant try to glass the planet from a range. (Archers)

i believe the battle is called teh battle of thermopylae...not sure though.
and i agree with above. the spartans are next to useless in a space battle. they voice that concern more than once in the books.

I wanted to say "parts" but I had to say maybe. Covenant, Flood, Ark, Prophets, Demons....and all this about The Ark saving you from the Flood. For a while I thought that the Covenant were protectors of the Halos and protected from people from the Flood. Sort of like God's Covenant about not flooding the earth again.

Jesus loves you, even if you don't believe it.

Some might say it is, most haters will say it isn't. I have my own opinion and its pretty optimistic. Also, if there is any truth to some of the information here, we could consider the Halo series one of the most powerful weapons in sparking interest in the Bible. Especially now when this garbage "code" movie is about to be released and with it the potential to steer millions of people even further away from the truth. I guess when muslims decide to bomb more innocent people because of the game, we know we got something powerful going on.
I think Bungie knows the power of the tool they have in their hands. Intentionally or not.

I can't believe the absurdity of the things some people post....
Of course the game has some basis from the BIble. Also from Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. mythology.... and even the Qur'an.
Just look at almost any science fiction movie or television show and you can find traces of other stories from our history. Any good storyteller knows how to pull things from other stories to form their own, original creations.

Honestly.... do u really believe Bungie would use the bible as a reference in a good video game during a time when stating your religion in other countries can get you shot? just because Halo is a good video game doesn't mean it's divine...

Why do you come on these forums with such ignorance?

Its not based on the bible. Besides you can say that almost any good vs. evil battle can be realated to the bible some how.

Here is my theory. Yes I’ll be branded as a hieratic but who cares.

Theory:

‘ the forerunners having being the dominate race in the galaxy throw aside their beliefs ( I’m thinking Adam and Eve being in the middle of it) thinking they where unstoppable and believed them self’s to be gods and set out to crate a life forum to serve them.

The Gravemind was born. The Gravemind could make infect other life forums that could support his spoors and control them to its will. War broke out between the flood and the forerunners. With the flood raising high in numbers and the war being lost . A forerunner named Noah set a plan along with the 7 counsel members that ruled over the forerunners ordered the making of the halos and the ark. With the halos and the ark built they set out to win the war. Having contained the
gravemind in one of the halos. The order was sent to the ark to land at a planet that had wild life. The forerunners making sure that there would be no treble with the flood on the planet, killed all but the smallest life forums that could support the flood. With asteroids that where in the system. After the dust it was safe to land. The ark landed on the largest body of land it found. The ark was piloted by Noah to make sure the deed was done. He carried the DNA of the 14 brightest and strongest of the forerunners. Having made the ark able to create new life with splissing of DNA of the planets main life forum, Noah set the timer for the ark to begain its task in that time. He then set off all of the halos killing him self and any living thing in the galaxy.

Well that’s my theory. Im sure something like that has been said before.

P.S. yes I know my grammer is bad.

Since the Flood in halo represents God's flood, then that must mean Gravemind represents God.

also there must be a second ark, one that is like the ark of the covenant (the destroyer) and one that is like Noah's ark(the refuge)
Or its both.
