I already have Halo 1 for Xbox so I honestly don't see any point in buying the PC version. Granted, it's got new weapons, new vehicles and online capabilities, but esentially it's the same storyline, right? Just wondering if you guys can convince me otherwise....

Don't be so harsh, Obi Wan!

Halo PC was very disappointing to many people. Don't get us wrong, it's a great game and almost nothing gets lost in the transition from the Xbox to the PC. However, it could have been much, much better. Halo PC's netcode is laggy, there is no straight forward banning/kicking feature implemented, etc. Not to mention it was quite demanding on even the most recent systems when it came out, and it didn't optimize PC technology that much. So the game has many flaws, but people still enjoy playing the game.

yes, hpc is a entirely worth it. the campaign is unchanged, except it is much easier to aim with the mouse and keyboard than a joystick, imho.

multiplayer is improved with added maps, weapons, and vehicles, and free online multiplayer (assuming you have internet service.) hpc multiplayer is great, except for the lag issue. there is alos halo custom edition, which allows people to create their own maps, weapons, vehicles, and skins. there are also an abundance of mods out there for you to try.

if you don't want to buy the full version just yet, you can always try the demo:

you can find the mac demo here and the pc demo here

ImSpartacus I mean absolutely no offense to you whatever but please improve on your captilization and punctuation. It physically hurts my eyes and is unergonomic in the long run for anybody who reads your typing.

I don't think he was trying to start a flame war, but I would like to keep the Xbox crowd from coming here and disturbing the forum peace. Halo PC is great, though. It's still tons of fun. And since everybody here plays Halo PC, wouldn't you get a rather biased answer, like ImSpartacus said?

Halo PC is fun but I recommend waiting until you get Vista, a high-end computer, and a copy of H2PC.

Don't let the laggy multiplayer in the demo turn you off, it's much less laggier when you buy the full version, although it's still a crappy netcode.

ZC Tango, acutually the lag problem has gotten much better, near to none warping now since most people have DSL, DSL along with a high fps makes lag seem to disappear, however you still have to lead targets, but this only adds skill to the game, and if you can snipe like a pro on Halo PC, then you turly are a pro with the sniper.

So all it is now is skills and fun, plus mainstream hardware can easily max it out, plus some near 100 dollar and below cards can also max it out as well. So its all fun, o ya and if you have a high fps and good internet, it'll look smoother than the xbox version.

um...who cares if the storylines the same or not?! the only big difference between HaloXbox, and HaloPC is that HaloPC actually has a straightforward online play. well, since you are an xbox player and dont get Live, all you know and care about is the single player, ey? so as the guys before me said, stop trying to make us feel stupid and go back to your oh so called "the library" section.

i know the lag problem has gotten a bit better,
but it's still there...
waiting in the shadows...
waiting for a chance to pounce on unsuspecting people who don't check the ping before they join a game!
aiiieeee!!

IMO I think that Halo PC is great fun. We have a rather large communities of great and friendly players who are regulars to the game. Yes every now and then you will run into those punks whose sole purpose in life is to bring down other gamers, but we just kind of shake them off and say w/e.

Depending on the PC or Mac you are playing on the graphics of the game may vary this is all thanks to GearBoxe's great porting of halo for XBox to the PC. Along with graphics issues there is the little matter of lag when playing online with other people. If you have a good high speed internet connection you should be fine.

Along side with halo PC online there is GearBoxe's little creation Halo Custom addition (I believe it is there way of try to make up for there crappy job with porting Halo for us) In Halo Custom Edition you are able to download player made maps and play on them with other people who have the same maps as well. In halo Custom Addition you can come across a wide range of maps, some of them have nothing to do with halo. For example you can down load Sonic the H maps where yes you do play as sonic, or maps that take place in WW2 battles or Vietnam battles. There are also Halo 2 Maps that people have made that follow Halo 2 pretty well.

I Say Halo PC is well worth the $20.00.

Some Xbox Halo owners buy the PC version, some don't. Personally I believe it is worth it. You only have three vehicles with the Xbox version, and in this PC version you get two additional vehicles. This also includes the Banshee, and it's the only air vehicle in the game. It's a really different experience then land vehicles. You also get more weapons like the flamethrower. But the biggest addition is the several more maps you get it in the PC version, like Timberland which is my favorite second map.

Most importantly, Halo Xbox is not Xbox Live supported. So if you want to play some Halo multiplayer on the Xbox, you'll have to do it with friends - and won't be able to play with thousands on the globe.

And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

In........................................................Out .

Yeah, try it, I've had plenty of fun sniping in an overcrowded battle creek or battling through a crazed damnation, or just using the new maps for a whole lotta fun, but there is the lag problem, but it isnt really that noticable, if it is... there is always halo CE

Hey, I wasn't trying to start a flame war! And if anyone's doing the flaming here it's you! I have a computer too, you know. I have plenty of games for it and I play every one of them. In fact, some games like the Medal of Honor and Wolfenstein series I prefer playing on the computer as opposed to a console, so I get the best of both worlds. I already have Halo 1 for Xbox, so I really don't see any point in paying another $60 to buy the same exact game for the computer. I also have Halo 2 for Xbox which is online enabled and I don't have to wait for the PC version. Believe me, you PC gamers are in for a real dissappointment with the unresolved ending to Halo 2 which goes something like this:

"What are you doing?"
"Finishing a mission!"

THE END

Hopefully this will be handled by Halo 3.
