You had a good run, Bungie.

You have no idea...

We all had a good run. Your aspiring to great heights as combatants is what made Halo stats such an interesting offering. We intend to send it off in style. There will be some fun to be had with the numbers before we seal them in a vault.

Could we still link our stats to our accounts after the transfer?
My guess is that theres going to be a section on your homepage that has you old sats, and they wont upload.
That's not what I mean. If we changed emails for some reason, or say someone created a new account, would their stats still link?
You would need to change the email on your Xbox to your new one associated with the account if you changed email.

What will happen to Halo-based avatars (like mine and countless others)?

If you change them in game, Bungie.net won't be notified. Existing avatars will display properly, though.
What happens if we select something other than an in-game avatar?

Will we be able to go back?

This might get funny/crazy. Can't wait to find out more.

Should do. The gamertag's stats are still onsite and Bungie.net is not switching from WLID (regrettably). However you might encounter problems if you change your gamertag. Will the stats be able to reflect a gamertag change?

All stats will be frozen in time so yes.

I am really happy that Bungie decided to keep past Halo stats. My Halo 2 stats will live forever :)

'Tis a sad yet monumental day, for this really does show Bungie going forward. Thank you for letting us know.

Better start uploading and rendering!

Perhaps create a render request thread here (or in the Reach forum, wherever) where you guys with tons of minutes you aren't planning on using can help some of our members out. Maybe even get some renders from Bungie dudes every so often.

Something official would stand out and be more effective than recent attempts, IMO.

Burn em up guys!

Every bungie.net source of stats (the web site, the mobile app, the API) will essentially "freeze" in time. So, your Bungie mobile app will cease to provide updated Halo stats and only show you archived data once the transition happens.

Also Whats Going to happen to bungie Mobile? Its so nice not to have to run up to my computer anymore in between games.

"Potatoes"!!! NOOOO!!! Oh well looks like I'll be burning some calories running up and down stairs.

I'm glad to see Bungie moving on, and I can only hope Bungie will show this much support for their next project as they did Halo.

I am curious though, as to how stats and such will maneuver over to 343i. Will anything be lost, or not implemented?

They said this day would never come.

What are they to say now?

Im so glad that archived stats will stay available forever (I like to flick through my halo 2 games sometimes) But its still a shame. Waypoints stats are still not a patch on the bnet platform.

Assuming my in-game avatar is stored on-site and not simply fetched when I select it as my forum avatar...

I'd like some confirmation of that.

Wait. I need some clarification.

Ok. the render service will disappear in march, yes?

Will that also mean the rendered vids i already have on bnet will disappear? So i really oughta download those suckers?

What about the rest of my fileshare?

Make sure you pick an epic Halo emblem before they're gone forever. :(

I'll always be with you with whatever you do Bungie. Are you going to be making a new series, or just helping other companies "promote" their games?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

it is sad but I knew that was coming. I guess it is time to move on.

It would be like Bungie still having stats for Myth 2, they don't own Halo anymore.

Still think Bungie.net had the best stat systems I have seen for any game.

I better use my render minutes.

But what about nameplates?

Whoa whoa whoa, hold on a second smarty pants. Is this "staying with WLID" something you were notified about, a rumor or a change that is not planned in the short term?

One would think this WLID requirement would change once the new new new hotness arrives.

  • 01.31.2012 11:52 AM PDT

Damn :/

So being able to access challenges from Bungie's Mobile App will no longer function? It will simply freeze on the challenges from March 31st?
