Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

While this doesn't really belong in this forum I choose 3. People wanted a game based on Reach for a long time. The trailers and hype made people more excited, but no matter how good it was it could not stand up to the hype. When you wait several years imaging how great the game will be and seeing all these trailers that support that fact, the only thing that could have happened was disappointment.

Leon > HUNK > Wesker > Ada > Jill > Claire > Chris

I thought Reach was a great idea for a game, but the way it turned out just wasn't cool. I wouldn't mind a game that is 100% based on the book, but otherwise I didn't like Reach. The characters were annoying and were of no use, and the MM was absolutely no fun.

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

Decent. In my mind it's great, but the community that plays it ruins it for almost every person that plays it. I have yet to get through a matchmaking game in it without getting T-bagged nonstop, or getting betrayed when every damn game ends.

I thought the game was decent in comparison to the other Halos but great in comparison to all of the other games out there.

Yeah, it's interesting that Halo Reach breaks the canon. It's almost like what Stanley Kubrick did when he made his films.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

None of those options are valid for me.

Reach was, IMO, a fantastic game. Sure the campaign might have not been it's strong point, but I loved the scenery and the new art work (New Alexandria). I loved most of the Spartan's of Noble Team and the music was great. Overall a great game, but not the best in the series.

Multiplayer wise, I loved it. Coming very closely to my second favorite MP of all time, which is Halo 2. Invasion was my baby, my favorite gametype of all time. Most people hate the MP, but I absolutely loved it. Hate all you want.

Although the game being over hyped is true. I over hyped the game with so much expectation that probably couldn't be met. Still, Bungie did a pretty good job, and it was no where near a let down for me.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

A complete failure.

It's interesting to see such varied opinions. Surely Bungie's last Halo was the most controversial.

"Halo! Its divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path to salvation."

Its was an Okay game, but it was a terrible HALO game.

  • 01.31.2012 2:45 PM PDT

I LOVED it all. There wasn't a thing I didn't like at all, except armor lock. 343 needs to get rid of it or make it bad enough so no players use it. I agree with the 9.5 rating IGN gave it when it released. What's not to love, MP, Campaign ( no matter how different the story is from the book), Custom games. And lets not forget forge.

In my opinion, Reach is a great example of the incredibly tight storytelling Bungie is capable of. I'm excited to see what they will do in the future.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I just think its a fun game

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

Very, and the way it takes away from being an Arena shooter and breaking already established well known lore doesn't help.

I completely disagree, Reach is great example of some incredibly lame storytelling. You are going to die, but that's cool 'cause you contribute to help save the human race. So while you wait for inevitable death, press some buttons, and blow up anti-air structures.

The voice acting was tremondiously bad. Auntie Dot made me feel like a five year old. Kat, Carter and Halsy were horrendious. The only good voice acting, was Noble 1 and Jorge with Emile occasionally being bareable.

Halo reach is a great game, but tight storytelling? I have little comprehension of that type of stance.

If you think reach has a good story, somebody owes themselves the privilege of playing a little game called Bioshock.

Yes. The lore breaking certainly wasn't a popular move.

Neither is changing it from an Arena shooter to an unnecessary class based luck trump skill game.

While I disagree with you, the Pillar of Autumn AA gun sequence, and some of the level mechanics were less than exciting, but I think that's more of a problem with level design than with storytelling.

Yah the cinimatics were badly done. Because at the end of the day, it pushes away more mature gamers that enjoy story and characterisation, and invites in more of salivating, "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen" type gamers. Violence without significant relevence is dead.

Conclusion: The MAC gun section was lame.

Let's agree on the MAC gun, and agree to disagree on the storytelling.

On another note, what did you think of ODST?

ODST was fantastic.
However some will complain about it being 60 bucks.
I saw it as one of the best campaigns for 30 bucks followed by all of the maps for Halo3 of my HDD and on one disc plus 2 new map packs for another 30 bucks.
All with a little Firefight on top, even though it didn't have matchmaking, it was still sweat with friends.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Looking back, I can say Option 3.
