Subject: Holy -blam!-, guys, it's coming in March!

Or early April, I think. Achronos's suggestive word choice and my own personal kick-assery have lead me to the conclusion that the "big" update (the New New New Hawtness is it now?) will be coming at the end of the Halo era and bring on one of Destiny; I expect to see a few things themed after the latter here and there.

For the sake of understanding, I'll elaborate. After reading the news article a few minutes ago, it dawned on me that they're going to have to update the site in order to tweak the Halo-related services (or remove them altogether). While the Web Team administers this "small" update, why wouldn't they just implement the "big" one while they're at it? We know that they've been working on an update for the site for a while, so it would only make sense that they complete it and implement it when they re-style the site for Destiny, so we won't have a ton of Halo-themed stuff lying around -- that'd look dumb. Bungie hates dumbs.

So, what do you guys think?

"At the end of this day one shall stand, one shall fall"

So, Death or Bungie?

Yes there will be a site update, it will probably happen very early in Bungie time.

That would be nice but all I care about is keeping this avatar. As long as this thing stays, it's gun b k.

I think that it wouldn't look too dumb, especially now that you said that it'd make them look dumb.`

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

I think that when the next hawtness is implemented we will get plenty of heads up. That said, I would guess that the site is implemented before destiny is announced, and going by the E3 theory we will have a new site by June. All speculation mind you.

I think stopping stat recording would be a relatively easy thing to do, like flipping a switch or pulling a plug. They give us a heads up so it doesn't come as a surprise and we can use up all of the stuff we have accumulated (minutes, star nameplates) and get our spartan models looking just right.

In layman's terms, no, not really, because there's different aspects to each service and the only way to remove it from the site is to update it. While actually updating the site is relatively easy, I think, writing the actual code to fix it isn't.

I think. heh heh

Likely true. Thought the same thing.

I think a lot of people kinda guessed there would be a major overhaul soon. Today pretty much confirmed that it'll happen late March/April.

Can't wait, a whole new bungie!!

  • 01.31.2012 2:10 PM PDT

I doubt we will see a full site update when the transition takes place, but we may see the beginning of what is to come.

I think sometime March [is when they'll come back/show Destiny/update for new hotness]. It will have been seven months since they went dark.

No, they'll just tweak the backend so Bungie doesn't get data from the Halo servers any more. There shouldn't be a need to update the site itself.

Don't get your hopes up guys.

I still don't think we'll get anything concrete until Bungie day.

That's for the services themselves, but then we'll have a ton of broken stuff lying around; I was implying that they'd have to update the site to remove said broken stuff. Not a huge update, hence me calling it the "small" update. :D

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I wonder if Bungie.net ill run faster after the update when they take off some load from the servers.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Its truly over. And in the month of my birthday, no less.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Good point. It runs pretty smoot now, to be fair.

OT: I think, and hope you're right. Bring on the new hawtness.

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

Why do I get the feeling that this year's April Fool's will involve a joke involving Bungie's next game actually being a crossover between P@S and Halo?

Also, if they're removing all of the Halo content from the website, I'd harbour a guess that the site will at least be receiving a facelift.
