Do you think bosses in Halo 3 are a good idea?

Personally, I really hope that they don't include more bosses in Halo 3, I understand why boss fights were in Halo 2 and that it was a totally different game than Halo. However, I believe that the bosses in Halo 2 were one of its main downfalls. In halo 1 for example, when you fought the golden elite, you saw the cutseen of him coming (followed by an "oh craaap!"), and then fought them like normal elites, besides the fact that they were a little stronger, and had swords.

What I'm trying to say is, I think Halo 2's bosses were a little too cheesy and more RPG like than anything. They took away from the enjoyment of the game and distracted people from the plot. It would have been better (in my humble opinion) if the bosses fought you like normal AI would, with no special gimmicks or powers, and you could actually kill them like anything else.

Hopefully Bungie reverts back to the more FPS Halo 1 style of bosses, because the Halo games are FPS games, not RPG!

No, unless driving through the Arc's structures to stop the Prophet of Truth from activating it while destroying large amounts of flood that get in your way is considered a boss.

I hated bosses, bosses in a FPS is a horrible idea. I think it should go back to Halo CE style where you would have something like the last wave or the "Hog Run," which was awesome.

For example, T & R, no bosses, but the last thing that came down the lift was two hunters, same with when you got inside the ship. Also, the level Halo, you defended the structure, and the last wave was twice the size as the other ones, three (or two dont rember too well) dropships.

I'm talking about the golden elites (on the level T&R, or Captain Keyes I'm not sure which), what I am saying is that even when there were bosses in Halo 1, they were still enjoyable.

No, I think you misunderstood me, killing the Prophet of Regret was a boss. Getting to that point, wasn't. I would love to drive through the Arc's structures to stop Truth from activating the rings while fighting off the hordes of flood that may stand in my way. I just hope that I dont have to suffer through another pointless RPG style boss fight with him once I get to him.

[sarcasm] OMG, Halo rpg...brilliant [/sarcasm]

But seriously, bosses are good...just not Tartarus, that pretty much sucked. I would expect to see something along those lines, if simply because of this games inherent epic plot. I mean, some crazy stuffs gonna be going down. But definitely not along the lines of Tartarus, more like fighting really really big things, kinda like the scarab battle, but not with that type of execution

That gets me thinking. Maybe some kind of context sensitive actions a la God of War or Resident Evil 4...hmmm, could work if implemented correctly. This way we get to see more of the Chief's resourcefullness in situations other than cut scenes. Wasn't he trained to be the ultimate war machine. Well i'm pretty sure that entails more than just running and gunning. Resourcefullness and the ability to use your environment is key also. I would definitely love to see that

Bosses are a horrible idea for a fps. although you can still have stronger AI like the gold and white elites, the brute captains, and the stronger sentinals that shoot the blue beam.
