hmm, good points there. War CAN actually halt advances in technology if both sides are severly damaged and effected by it, like if they used nukes on each other or something, right?(correct me if I'm wrong, please)

If humans nuked each other enough, then yes, technology could be lost.

If all the factories for producing, say, computers, are destroyed, and almsot everyone who knows how to build a computer from scratch (and I mean scratch, putting in the transistors/resistors/capacitors/etc. onto the boards and such, not buying teh parts from a store), and most of the current parts are lost, technology would take a huge hit to its advancement.

Edit:
In the Halo universe, they now have "clean" nukes, which means no radiation. THey are just extremely powerful bombs.

Well i dont really like the quote "If it ain't broken, dont fix it"

The reason which I stated it is because:

Since the Covenant are the first alien races the humans have encountered, they never really needed to develop more sophisticated weapons. Projectiles have, do, and will always work very well against the human species.

Before the Covenant arrived, if bullets could still kill Human, then there would be no need to to "advance" the way of killing someone.

Bows could kill people, too...

The guns used compressed gas, not gunpowder. This topic has been discussed countless times. Quit...

It seems that the human races didn't really advance much with 500 years. Bungie should be a little more creative on weapon for Halo 3. I mean com'on it only took like 10 years from the first flight of an airplane to like the first use in world war I. Doesn't this puzzle anyone?? A very creative story, but not so creative arsenal.

bungie is retarded with guns they would be similar to the g11

Well obviously our weapon systems are good as hell cause we tear some -blam!- holes in those -blam!-es.

The different species that exist in the Covenant are organic beings, just like humans. There is no reason why a piece of metal moving at a very high speed wouldn't damage them. It doesn't mean our weapon systems our "good" just because be can hurt other organic beings. However, the fact that our weapons can break apart shields made of energy, tear through unknown metallic alloys, and travel a rather large distance afterwards does justify a "good" label.

Yeah, they're recoilless (sp) which probably means gas powered. And personally, I've thought about this, how stupid would it look if MC was shooting out green rays almost a meter in length from a pistol smaller than his hand, pretty much? Besides, I like bullets.

Recoil depends partially on how strong you arms are. Since all of the Spartans are extremely strong, most weapons probably wouldn't have much/any recoil. The SMGs from Halo 2, though, did have recoil, since it is harder to hold/shoot guns singlehanded.

they arent recoiless. recoil is when the gun jolts back in result of fireing. watch the shot gun when you shoot it (no he isint waving it after every shot) and the manuel says the sniper is powered by Co2

If you really think about it we have been using gun powder for 500 years already, back with the unweildy muskets in the 1500's, and they probly thought we would not be using gun powder today, but we are, so it is probly possible that it will still be used 500 years from now

Halo will be dumb if we all are zipping around with lazers.

TRUE. Halo would be -blam!-.
I think the weapons are very realistic for the time being.

True...
Who told you how work the fire weapons from the MC? It's probably a new technology...
Anyway, it kicks ass! It's cool. If you want dumb ammo... go with the covy!
