Subject: Dear Golden Septagon, I Hate You

Basically, I make the best topics ever.

Feedback!
Duardo: This thread is locked for being stupid.
cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

Dear Golden Septagon (next to topics employees have posted in),

It's not me, it's you. When we first met, nearly 5 years ago now, I relied on you as a brightly colored beacon of helpful information and assistance. You were great. I clicked on you, and in return you showed me where the friendly employees of this site interacted with the world. I loved you.

But now I have grown older and more cynical. I am no longer the carefree high school student that once roamed these lands. I have a life, and with that life comes a depressing reduction in time. This means that I have less time for your silly games, Golden Septagon. This means that I when I trust you to show me the informative posts from Bungie employees that accompany your mark of approval, I expect to actually see informative posts from Bungie employees. Not crappy spam that I spent a good 3 minutes looking for. I could have walked down to the market, bought an actual can of spam, and started eating it before I even got to the page that you told me to look at. And that spam would have tasted a lot better than anything you ever gave me.

I know I told you we were through, but for some reason I simply can't ignore you. I was done with your lies and deception, but your scandalous yellow outfit kept calling me back. I know, I'm weak and pathetic, but that doesn't change the fact that you are deceptive, misleading, and evil. I thought we had something, but I was wrong.

I wish the web team over at Bungie would just allow the employees to decide whether they wanted to notify you every time they posted or not. Something like a check box, so that way you wouldn't even know if they spammed, and middle aged men wouldn't be drawn to the remains of some lame joke as you squeal and dance around like the stupid attention whore you are. That way you wouldn't even be given the opportunity to screw up at the one purpose you have in this life.

Anyway, that's all I really have to say to you. You have disappointed me for the last time and I have finally made the decision to block the url that you are saved on from ever showing up in my browser again. I hope you're happy.

Sharpace77

EDITOR'S NOTE: Evidently 99% of you didn't quite understand what this meant, so I'll clarify. While this is a joke, I am a bit serious. I'm not complaining about the employees posting. I'm not complaining about Bungie 'going dark.' I'm not leaving B.net or anything like that.

The ONLY thing that I have a problem with is the fact that the 'Golden Septagon' shows up every time an employee posts, even (and especially) if it isn't necessary. I get irritated when I see a topic with a legitimate question and a Golden Septagon next to it only to find that an employee was only making a joke. I love jokes and I'm glad Bungie interacts with us, but there is absolutely no reason that attention should be drawn to a topic simply because an employee posts in it.

It's been proposed before, and I'm simply supporting the addition of a feature to allow employees to choose which topics get the 'Golden Septagon' and which ones don't. That is all.

To those that actually understood what I was saying, I apologize that I had to write this EDIT and ruin a perfectly good satirically serious OP.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Don't need to feel that way, just have patients Bungie will have something for us, but they are currently just having some fun with the little posts they make.

We can't expect them to tell us everything that we want to know, that kind of stuff we kind of have to wait for or try find on our own.

Don't leave! </3

Be nice...

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

I wasn't sure as to whether or not it was a joke until he said "I have blocked your URL."

Funny stuff.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Every time I see a sharpace post I'm ashamed that the satire I try to inject into the forums pales in comparison (in quantity at least).

Haha I didn't know what the equivalent to blocking someone's number was. I didn't think anyone would notice...

lol implying that someone actually care about bungie's employee's opinion.

If you want more information and detail, I suggest you to pay a visit on Achrono's profile and stalk every single post in his history. Other than that, head over for DeeJ, Urk, Stosh, Halcyon, and/or Shishka's profile for funny and interesting comments from them.

(Yes I know, I know, but shishka is a former employee, it still counts since the OP said he has been on the website for three years.)

Why can't we put Bungie Cards here?

This thread may be a joke but I still agree with it. There is hardly any meaningful contribution from Bungie employees. I guess there isn't really a lot to say, but still.

I imagine you'd look like this, especially considering how you despise this "Golden Septagon".

The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead
From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste of the blood on my lips, again

"Employees should only post when they have something important to say"

Moral of the story: You can't please everyone.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

So, the OP is proposing a "take off my hat" mode for employees, allowing them to make their posts appear the same as regular members, for when they are making threads or replies that are not related to official duties.

I'd love such a feature, especially if it could be extended to the moderators. There are plenty of times where I am not posting as a part of my ninja duties, but as a member of this community and to be honest, sometimes the colored text can be a distraction to others.

With that said, there is also the counterpoint that since we ninja and the employees are known, anything that we say or do is going to be seen (with or without a notification to others) as "this person said this!"

Whether or not we can take our hat off, there will always be people who will misinterpret things said casually. So, perhaps there are two reasons for the colored text and the golden septagon. One is to let members know who is speaking, and maybe the other one is to remind the person with the colored text or thread flag that "anything and everything they say can and will be used against them in the court of public opinion".
