There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

So many golden septagons now. They've lost all meaning!

It's possible that employees are already posting without the gold text.. just sayin' :)
Please elaborate, what is it that you are just saying?
There are already BNG employees that post on Bnet without gold text, but it is not on a per post basis.
Lol.

Exhibit A.

Alright, what annoys me about this is that he/she did not have "without" in the original post, and he changed it in my post. Now I feel like an idiot/-blam!-. :'(

Feedback!

cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

So... "going dark" must mean "post in every other thread", huh?

I've got it now, by going dark, they simply mean to say "Hey, we're just going to take a break for a year or two and occasionally post on the forums."

They must be freaking out now that they see there's already so much hype for this "Destiny" and they haven't even started it yet.

So, the OP is proposing a "take off my hat" mode for employees, allowing them to make their posts appear the same as regular members, for when they are making threads or replies that are not related to official duties.

I'd love such a feature, especially if it could be extended to the moderators. There are plenty of times where I am not posting as a part of my ninja duties, but as a member of this community and to be honest, sometimes the colored text can be a distraction to others.

With that said, there is also the counterpoint that since we ninja and the employees are known, anything that we say or do is going to be seen (with or without a notification to others) as "this person said this!"

Whether or not we can take our hat off, there will always be people who will misinterpret things said casually. So, perhaps there are two reasons for the colored text and the golden septagon. One is to let members know who is speaking, and maybe the other one is to remind the person with the colored text or thread flag that "anything and everything they say can and will be used against them in the court of public opinion".
Solution: you need an account named "I am not Recon Number 54"

I just talked to the Golden Septagon, and he told me that he hates you, too. So, you guys have sumpthin in common.

Sarcasm aside, I have found myself wanting to share my thoughts on a subject without chumming the shark-infested waters. Consider your feedback valuable, and duly shared.

Now go take a nice, long, deep breath.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

People are not recognizing it's a joke thread. Astounding.

As to the actual point of the septagon being a joke in a serious question thread, what makes Bungie employees so special in the "help" section, unless it's Bungie-related? With these situations, there are three possibilities:

1. The question's already been answered, so the septagon is just the sign of further clarification, or it's a joke with no further harm.

2. If the question hasn't been answered, the employee is answering the question.

3. If the question hasn't been answered, the employee is joking because Bungie/that employee is not ready to answer that question.

Really, I see no problem with the current system.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

It is fun to play along.

I like how Bungie interacts with their community a lot.

"This is the prototype NOVA Bomb, nine fusion warheads encased in lithium triteride armor. When detonated, it compresses its fusionable material to neutron-star density, boosting the thermonuclear yield a hundredfold. I am Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb, temporarily in command of the UNSC military base Reach. To the Covenant uglies that might be listening, you have a few seconds to pray to your damned heathen gods. You all have a nice day in hell..."

After reading and understanding what you are trying to say. I feel that whether the golden septagon were there or not, if the lettering were standard or flourescent pink, people would recognise the names and the posts from either employees or from ninjas.

This then would not alter the way you perceive the post or the thread, and therefor you would still be drawn to the post/thread not matter what it looked like.

So having the ability to switch the jazz on/off would be inefficient. No matter how simple or how tasking the job would be.

The only perceivable alternative would be to have an alternative account for standard forum banter rather than Ninja/Employee related posting.

But as we all know alternative accounts are a dark and mysterious black hole of questions. A bit too cloak and dagger, one might say.

ISU Cyclones!

I'd rather have it garner too much attention than have them not post and garner too little.

Quite frankly I like it. Either it's usually helpful information or them chumming around with us. Both far more and better than any other game dev I'm a fan of.

So of all the evils that could be on the forum... having the employees get too much attention drawn from their interactions is one I'm very unconcerned about.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

Download the septagon script, it takes you right to the employee post if you click the septagon.

Ahh, but at least he provided a legitimate answer to the topic at hand.

Well, this may have been a bug (or I am losing my mind slowly), but I remember while Urk was on vacation he posted in a thread, yet the thread did not have a septagon as the topic marker.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I agree.

The Gold Septagon seems to no longer indicates useful information, and rather a wave of employee quotes and brown tongues.
