But in the opening scene of Cairo Station, where the first covenant ships are spotted. Cortana counted a whole fifteen ships. Just fifteen, how in Lord's name did the mac stations not ripped these only ships into a bunch of little pieces.

Because Bungie wished it. Nothing more, nothing less.

because in most cases a covenant battle group just hangs back opens fire and destroys the UNSC forces thats why the MAC stations were created their like artillery

but Regrets fleet is small and have a task so instead of a long drawn out engangement in which the MAC cannons would have owned Regret runs his ships straight for earth bypassing the stations.

but helping destroy the malta and the athens probably helped his entry

I'm still saying that when all the Mac stations in orbit around Earth, which I'm not sure how many, maybe 16 or so if I can remember. But, you would think that the orbital defence Super MAc stations would slaughter the small fleet of Covenant ships[Fifteen Ships]. Or not to mention the large fleet of UNSC ships around Earth. It makes no sense.

And yes, I'm sure Cortana cant aim. :P

The unsc is pretty operational i think, the covenant only seemed to land in that one spot, as it clearly stated in halo 2 , so maybe that entire country, or even continent is overrun, but i think the humans still have some fight left in em

As for humans left on delta halo: probably few if any. and if their are still some alive their gona be with arbiter, keyes and johnson. as for earth: basically the fleet aroind earth is getting beat the crap out of them, on the gorund were not so sure becuz all we knwo is that their in africa.

but as for the SOMAC's (super orbital magnetic accelerator cannons) that are around earth, who knows. srgt. johnson makes a comment about 300 around earth. the battle cluster of athens matla and cairo make up 1% of the defense grid. also take in mind that the books arent directly proportional to the game. for example, in the books 5 well places shots from MC busts through the elite and kills him. a coupl plasma rounds and MC is done. in the books to, the SOMAC systems around Reach shred whatever they could before they were takin down and they really reaked havoc.

in the game, it takes like a ful clip of ammo to take out an elite. it takes a ton of fire to kill u. and theirfore mayb the mac guns are also on the same power scale as proportion to the game

I'm not nearly the smartest person on the forums, nto by a long shot. Opog is much smarter than I am, as are some of the other member in The Watchers, and many other people. I have a fairly decent baseline knowledge from reading many of the good theories on the forums over the past few years, and have participated in them before. You can be as sarcastic as you want, I don't really care.

On that note, most of the theories and/or thoughts I provide on the forums are either hard facts, or lie on both sides of theories. I don't agree with probably 90% of the theories on the forums, mainly due to their massive lack of hard evidence.

Helljumpers kick ---!

105th Drop Jet Division NavSpecWar Command

Maybe the Marines on delta halo were able to set up a base of operations like in halo one. As for the units on earth. to answer that marine-navy and how come there is no army or air force. its because the Navy has a air power by its self and why would the air force base planes on naval ships when the navy has its own planes and secondly there is no army because most of the time the soldiers are deployed from the ship directly and ever since 1775. when the marines started they were always stationd on naval ships not the army and this renders the army absolete. soldiers based on naval stations of duty are mostly refered to as Marines. Army has its own bases. plz try to stay on topic. im just looking for ideas of what might happend to the UNSC. and as for the defences yes there was over 200 MAC orbital defence stations around earth. A super MAC gun can completely obliterate a covie ship or remove its tactical presence from the battlefield with a single round.

I think theres about anywhere from 100 to 250 MAC Cannons still operational or damaged. For the fleet, i'll say at least 60+ ships. And for infantry, i'll say about 50+ Divisions {Infantry Armored, Cavalry, Airborne, SpecOps}

But that's just me.

what do you think happened to johnson and keyes after halo 2? the In Amber Clad is crashed in High Charity and they and the rest of the marines are on Delta Halo. After 343GS tells them about the Ark does the Arbiter kill them or soemthing?

Well SgtMaj Johnson and Commander Keyes has of course allied themselves with the Arbiter and his Covenant Sepratists and probably they'll try to get to the Ark.

And so far, all I know is that there are four humans still left on Delta Halo.
Sergeant Major A.J. Johnson
Lieutenant Commander Miranda Keyes
Staff Sergeant Pete Stacker
Staff Sergeant Banks

Both Sergeants in the UNSCDF Marine Corps. Stacker was the white marine sgt in Halo and Halo 2 that had the Sgt Hat on. And Banks was the black Marine who you met on the building during Metropolis.

i refuse to believe that earth is conquered. the whole "conquered" part is only true of the trailer because the trailer is no doubt a vision or a dream of what is in store for earth is the chief fails. the whole trailer has a wierd dream quality to it anyway. also at the end of halo 2 there are still operating MAC stations. the covies would not start a ground assault win the earth orbit is still under human control. also in the background earth looks to be in perfect condition with no glassing to be seen. Think about how much force it took to invade Reach, and reach was a colony. this is earth were talking about, the strongest of human planets.

Yes they would. They would land on Earth so they could take out the generators powering the MAC platforms.

If the covenant attacked with a large amount of ships, Earth's defenses wouldn't have lasted very long.

i know there is no proof of this but i got the feeling that earth is holy to the covies and they would not dare glass the earth. so a infantry assault would be the only way to go and the year is 2552 so their should be billions of unsc soldiers.

Basicly all im sayin is that earth is in no way conquered and if Bungie decides it is then its unrealistic.

The early bird gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese!

Havent you guys ever read any Tom Clancy books. "Teeth of the Tiger" man the covies kicked the tiger "Earth" in the tail but they didn't have a plan for dealing with his teeth "the marine corps" My bet is that the marines have set up some sort of underground resistance and has been making precise strikes on the covies using gurrila warfare. You know, ambushes, mines, snipers, taking out suply dumps. stuff like that.

The ship flew right behing the Cairo Station, barely missing the it. How come the Cairo Station couldn't hit it if the Mac Stations are so accurate?

It must be fairly difficult to aim those things. The Cairo is what, a several-hundred ton hunk of metal suspended in low orbit over Earth?
Regret's ship was moving in fast, by the time Cortana could get a lock on it, it would be in the gap where the Malta and the Athens were supposed to occupy.
