send me out... with a bang

I know this question has been asked alot. But does anyone know for sure where forerunners have gone? I know the Precursors meant for the humans to inherit the mantle. But stil, the forerunners were the most intelligent creatures in the galaxy. I highly doubt they would just get themselves obliterated. I'm currently reading Halo Cryptum, and by how far I am, they don't seem suicidal at all.

My guess is that they were A, on the Ark and now populate a small planet where they don't interfere with the galaxy anymore (cuz they realized the mantle was meant for the humans, and they live for thousands of years because of their armor)
B; They created a shielded planet or something. like the thing you see at the end of the halo 4 E3 trailer.(or whatever that thing is) where they could live free from harm or something, I don't know. anyone good explanation?

they possibly are still alive in a shield world.
the more likely one they were to late to get to a shield world and fird all the halo rings killing themselves

send me out... with a bang

well, I would doubt that every last forerunner was on the ark when they fired the rings. If you have a team of 4 and you gotta blow up a building, but the switch is on top, it would be logical that only 1 goes up, sacrifices himself for the team? and +, if they all were on the ark, they would be safe from harm... the halo universe is one big mystery...

This is the worst analogy I've ever heard...

1) Assuming there are a number of hostiles in the building, 1 person would not survive going alone.

2) Sacrifice is a last resort, not a mutual agreement before the mission on who is going to take one for the team.

3) Why not just capture the button, get on an exfiltration craft and then blow it up?

This quote proves nothing. There were Shield Worlds left untouched by the Flood (e.g. Onyx and the Legendary Planet) and the Greater Ark that we're told about in Primordium, we know that [at least some of] the Forerunners survived along with the Librarian.

Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit,
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."

Nothing more needs to be said unless you wish to prove and post your theories or possibilities on the Forerunner survival, but really BUNGiE left their story open like that so WE would postulate because, as fans, we are ravenous for a story and BUNGiE is the storyteller who wishes never to nor can say the same story twice. What I am trying to say is thus: It is all up to you, your imagination, and a little bit of creativity to decide.

Primordium. Read it. Plus, the Forerunners have been confirmed to be alive since like 2009 when 343i released the Encyclopedia. There's no "interpretation" about it, the Forerunner Trilogy has made it abundantly clear that the Forerunners are very much alive and will have a role to play in the Reclaimer Trilogy.

This.

The Librarian is very much alive, which implies others are too.
