Hey guys!

I read the forums daily, and play a strong part in Australia's competitive Halo scene.

Now i'm going to honest with you. I do prefer Halo 1 over Halo 2, please keep in mind that i do realise that this is MY opinion and my opinion only, and that others do prefer Halo 2. People are different and have different opinions and I respect that. I'm not going to put down a Halo 2 player because he doesn't want the pistol back.

I personally would love to see a GUN similar to the Pistol make a return in Halo 3, im also however well aware that others do not want it in the game because they believe it's "too overpowered". As I previously said, i'm not going to argue with peoples opinions, because they are just that - opinions. But assuming the pistol was "overpowered" it was also "balanced" amongst the range of other Halo 1 weapons.

I mean, the pistol was capable of fighting back against a shotgun at close range, and a sniper rifle at medium range. It without a doubt was the "prime" weapon.

I'm also aware that the Battle Rifle was designed to be the primary weapon in Halo 2 and hey - I love the look and the feel of gun, I just prefer Halo 1 to Halo 2.

I know that alot of people also say that the Pistol is unrealistic because of its scope. Which is fair enough, I agree. That is unrealistic, but then again, isn't a Plasma Grenade? Or a Plasma Rifle? Isn't falling from great heights and landing with no fall damage unrealistic? Anyway - its besides the point. The scope did seem to be rather unusual because the gun was your basic pistol.

My suggestions are either of the following:
A) Bungie could possibly design a gun, that has no scope - yet can 3 shot kill. The exact same as the pistol but it can only reach a short distance. It has no scope, so a short distance would be fair. The Battle Rifle would remain the way it is, be a 4 shot kill, but be able to reach at medium distances because it has a scope. This way, each weapon is better suited to different situations.

B) Bungie could enable a secondary option on the Battle Rifle. It would be a setting that could be changed in the Gametype options. A setting that enables the Battle Rifle to be either a 3 shot kill OR a 4 shot kill.

C) Bungie could actually put the pistol into the game, identical to how it was in Halo 1, but again, leave it as a gametype option which can simply be turned on or off.

In my opinion, I believe either of these would be a suitable solution to the problem. Halo 2 players don't have to play with the pistol if they don't want to and Halo 1 player can play with it simply by enabling it in gametype setttings.

Im well aware this post is long, and I apologise. Thanks in advance go out to those who read the entire post and reply maturely!

Cheers.

One shot: one kill, zero seconds to live

hey, don't worry! alot of people like H1 over H2 (i prefer H2 though). i also do believe that the original pistol should reappear in H3, but the 3 shot kill is a little over the top. having a scope on a pistol shouldn't be considered unrealistic, people use them even today and this story is set 500 years into the future. as for those plasma weapons you got to remember it alien tech, and should seem unrealistic. well, that's my opinion any way.

I personally think that they should bring back the original Assault Rifle (they can add some little changes, of course). I do like the idea of being able to toggle the availability of the original pistol in story mode, but seems a bit impractical for development. They sould just make a pistol that is not too powerfull (for the sake of multiplayer purposes), and have one that sort of meets in the middle of the old and the new. Maybe keep the scope, but requires maybe a couple of extra shots for a takedown. Now, I am no where near qualified to make a decision like that (I'm sure that the Bungie staff are making the right decisions for the game), but that is how I feel.
