Subject: Bnet age

How old are you? No, not how old are you really, but in a maturity level for the bnet forums, how old are you?

Here's an example: me.

I've been here for about a year and a half, and i'd say that my bnet age is about 26. 26 in real human years. Which means that i'm pretty mature and know my stuff, but at the same time do have fun when it is appropriate, and sometimes when its not (spart's fault). I do help people out when it looks like they need it, keep to myself when the subject is awry, and hang around pretty much everywhere.

Got it?

So the age would be in human years, so it keeps things simple.

Several thousand years old, in the very least.

(I'm joking.)

I use the same philosophy. Contrary to popular belief, I have never once actually posted an image of myself on B.net. I try to let my image on these forums dictate not only my perceived physical appearance, but my age as well. I figure people might as well use their imagination when they picture me. I am whomever you think I am, something I like better than actually knowing who I am. Using this, I can relate to any situation presented to me without fear of impunity, because in effect, I am every age you want me to be, and have whatever appearance you like me to have.

One of my failings is that I don't trust people until I know them very well. I expect the worst from everyone, whether I like it or not. This is just a way for me to try to get around age bias. For example I can talk to a 30 year old about trying to find a new career, and then turn right around and give relationship advice to a 15 year old. Both times the person saw me without age, I was just someone trying to help them out.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

How does one actually measure maturity? Is it based off of how we expect people to act at that specific age? Does the average person actually act as we expect them to? If there is no average, how can we have a so-called "age" for maturity? Is there supposed to be a difference between certain ages? If there is no expected maturity difference between 40 and 50, is a 50 year old man immature because he is as mature as a 40 year old?

I do not care what number I am assigned. If I am mature, I am mature, and that is all that truly matters.

OMGConfuscious!!!1!

And my maturity level is about 12, prepubescent, confused, high pitched and arrogant.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

No idea. Mabye other people could tell me? But this is a strange thread, for my idea of the maturity of a 15 year old may be different then what you expect it to be. I'm not sure what to say for my age, so I'll leave it to other people, if they would like to. If not, just as well I suppose.

I think Mabian's having a mid-life crisis... =P

I'm 20 (in a month, which is scary). Because I am. That's how old I am, therefore, that's how mature I am, for me. Oh yes.

Im a little bit anti-social. But i approch it in a methodical and profesional manner. Sensibly, so to speak. So is there such a thing as mature immaturity?

I dunno about me, anywhere from 22-34. Which is odd since im not even 16 yet.

So basically what you're saying is, is the older people get the more mature they get? Seems like an odd and stereotypical basis for estimating your maturity level to me...

Going along with this then i would of course naturally say 'old enough.'

Are you talking about maturity or age? (as in, human years vs. dog years = human years vs. bungie years).

Either way, I'm 16. If you were measuring maturity, I'm 16. If you were measuring amount of years, I'm 16. If you were just asking my real age, I'm 16.

I'll just say my maturity is that of a 19 year old because I am 19 years old.

LOL You leave some holes in your story. If you are 16 then why aren't you in school all day? If you are 16 why don't you whine like the rest of the 16 year olds around here? If you are 16 how come you can spell correctly? I for one cannot believe you :)

1) He lives in Australia.
2) He doesn't whine because he has we like to call "maturity"; an element noticed by Achronos thus one reason why he was offered the role of Moderator.
3) Ouch. I suspect there are a few 16 year-olds out there rightfully expecting an apology for that one. I suspect he is well educated and or he uses a spell checker and checks his posts before posting.

Believe it or not, it's true.

  • 05.17.2006 9:45 AM PDT

look, all i'm saying is that people on the forums have a certain maturity level, but i'm looking for the individual maturity level of people on the forums. I think of myself older than i really am, as far as maturity goes, both in real life and on the forums. But if there's someone who acts like a kid on the forums but is 30, then obviously people will not think he's really that mature.

So no, its not dog years tgp. Sure, your 16, but do you act 16 according to other people's responces to you? probably not.

We cna't really review our own maturity. We have to let others do that for us. Otherwise we could be our own worst/best critic.

I am 14. I don't listen to the people in charge and I have pointless banter with stupid people. I lie all the time and I flirt with any girl or guy I see. Old people are jealous of my innocence while young people wish they could be as cool as me. So pretty much, I am the most dominating creature on earth.
