Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I think that by posting here I should finally give a clear response as to what my opinion is on CE

I found the following things to be disappointing

The level designs: I found the level designs to be unfun the first play through and were one of the things that deterred me from replaying certain levels.

The weapons: I found the weapons to be extremely overpowered and they were unfun to use. There is not a single thoughtul or strategic element to the weapon sandbox

The enemies: I found the enemies and encounters to be repetitive and unfun. They quite frankly bored me. I think that the overpowered weapons may have a part in that though

The story: I personally found the story to be kind of lame. I mean, the general story about discovering an ancient ring is all right, just the way it was told, and the fact that you have to save Keyes twice in the SAME ship. Parts of it seemed kind of rushed. I mean, you meat Guilty Spark, and after 10 seconds he has won Chiefs trust.

I only found two missions, Silent Cartographer and Assault in the Control Room.

Yes, I know you will all agree. But i probably won't be making any more posts here. I'm done with this game. I uninstalled it from my computer and I am never going to play it on my Xbox again. So I am basically done with it

ofcourse Mark V guy, you never experienced it during it's glory days, it's a shame though because Anniversary still could have been a decent game if they gave us the original damn multiplayer!, ah well i guess some things are too good to be true

Pleased: Great Campaign, pretty balanced weapon sandbox, and some amazing maps. That includes Custom Edition. (For PC)

Displeased: Absolutely everything that was cut due to Microsoft acquiring Bungie to make the game for the Xbox instead. The invention of aim assist.

Pleased - The game itself. Campaign was amazing, fantastic story telling and plot twists, the flood, Easter Eggs, M6D Pistol, System Link, Online Multiplayer (PC), Custom Edition (PC), Most of the level design, the weapon set was good and most felt unique with power behind it giving you the feeling of being a "supersoldier", the Co-op.

Disappointed - Marines are useless in most instances compared to other Halo games, where they are still useful on Legendary in some instances, lack of system link co-op, the poor netcode (PC), SOME repetitive levels (the Library, AOTCR and Two Betrayals spring to mind), the fact that after the flood are released, we lose all human contact for the rest of the game, the vehicle splatter system.

I have to say that is the very first time I've heard that complaint. I don't really see how any of the weapons hold too much ammo, though.

I loved the campaign. Did'nt really like the multiplayer though. One of my best memories with halo was when I was only 8 and I had a 1 v 1 with my teenage cousin and I absolutely destroyed him.

Pleased: The level Keyes.

Parts of it seemed kind of rushed. I mean, you meat Guilty Spark, and after 10 seconds he has won Chiefs trust.
1. Forerunner architecture everywhere.
2. Spark's a Forerunner artifact.
3. He seemed to know a lot about the Flood threat.
4. John doesn't mind taking orders.

So of course Chief's going to be cooperating with Guilty Spark.

Furthermore, the original plot was going to have Cortana going rampant and Chief team-up with Guilty Spark to stop her. That's why Cortana says: "Never been better...you can't imagine the wealth of information. Knowledge...so much...so fast. It's glorious!"

It wasn't rushed at all. Even The Maw hog run was delicately designed compared to that H3 imitation...

There is not a single thoughtul or strategic element to the weapon sandbox
The Covie weapons were balanced:

Needler - slow rof, slow projectile speed
Plasma pistol - it's not that fast and it can overheat very quickly. The overcharge isn't super accurate like it was in H2
Plasma rifle - isn't very powerful

I agree about the human weapons though. Super Shotty, god pistol, sniper cannon. The rocket launcher was alright since it was slow in everything.

Weapons don't make up strategy. AI behavior does.

ah yes, the good old days of making elites do gymnastic flips of the edge to their death or manipulating goldie locks to kill his allies :)

The plasma rifle us powerful, it and the plasma pistol have stun and can kill an elite in seconds.

Also, dont you think it is ridicolous how a little covenant side arm like a plasma pistol and kill hunters? Hunters un Halo CE are pointles and week, ANY weapon in the game can kill them. Thats what i liked about the later games, you could only kill them from the back

The plasma rifle isn't that powerful. It's pretty moderate. Actually, the stun doesn't last long enough. It's only helpful if one continues firing with the plasma weapon. If he switches to the pistol, the Elite will start moving again.

As I said, it's the AI that is the problem. The plasma pistol could have easily been balanced: increase battery aging for each shot (this combined with Famine would easily force one to use it sparingly). Same thing with the pistol: lower damage, reduce max ammo. Pointless? Hardly. The Hunters are marine destroyers.

actually the PP isn't as little as you might assume in Halo: Combat Evolved. literally speaking, it's the biggest PP in the Halo series and it's just as good as all the other weapons (what i miss about Halo: Combat Evolved, no weapon is too weak regarding the Pistol)

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

Mark V guy is a troll. he doesn't realise Bungie had 9 MONTHS to turn it from a Third-Person PC RPG to a FPS on a console still in development.

I loved CE alot, but I was dissappointed with the diffuculty of The Maw. It had so much more potential, like a Flood Battalion attacking you at the end of the Warthog run.

Opinions don't make someone a troll. Why would I waste my time 'trolling' this forum and pretend to not like it?

Endlessoblivion

i really liked the whole "feel" of the game, that sence of wonderment, and the forest levels really got me at the begging (like the level halo, take out the canyon and the forruner stuff, at it looks like my home back yard)

the stuff that pissed me off was that the AR was damn near useless, but it looked so cool for the time, and that several levels got really, really, really repetative and boreing.

Why would anyone waste their time trolling forums to begin with? If you hate something you ought not waste your time on it.

The only answer I've come up with so far is that people like to be miserable more than they do happy. They just like to be miserable about "fake" things more than they do about reality.

That describes me perfectly. It may be true but I know the real answer: they have nothing to do.

I may hate Halo 3 but as I'm more of a console gamer than a PC gamer and Halo CE from Xbox Marketplace cannot be played without a Xbox 360 hard drive, I had to re-install it because there wasn't other options that could entertain me as much. Instead, I decided to stick with easier tasks which reduced my hatred problem greatly.

I was pleased by how instinctive Bungie designed gameplay. Two weapons, a sack full of grenades and the Melee. You could deal death from afar, spam grenades and still dance around quickly enough to beat an enemy to death with very little button mashing.

My biggest complaint was their reliance on repeating chief's journey backward. Something they NEVER got rid of.
Those endless blue rooms on AotCR give me nightmares to this day.
