Subject: Halo 3, the major weapons questions!!

Each time someone stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. That hope is three little numbers: 1 - 1 - 7.

There is hope in us all. We gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face. We must do the thing which we think we cannot do; stand with the Master Chief and Finish this Fight!

Okay now lets go on a little history lesson shall we my young meager minds.

Back when Halo 1 was in development what what the genre of the game before it was turned into an FPS??

Anyone...........well it was intened to be an RTS people wake up. The lack of the guns in the first game was finely balanced and gave you everything you wanted, Halo 2 came along and destoyed that balanced giving you so many unesessary guns like the Brute Gun or the Alien Sniper rifel to give a more broaden approach to the Halo Universe. But riddle me this would you exchange the gun balance in Halo 1 for the balnce in Halo 2, every time the answer is yes.

Okay have the Brute gun, have the Alien Sniper but tune them and balance them out, even dual weilding was always a bit off and the BR was just a better version of the pistol.

What the trailer showed us is that Bungie are going back to their roots and are desgining a better balance with the old guns in mind which is genius, but for those of you who want new guns then you will get them in multi-player, but in the storyline say bye-bye to the SMG, dual-weilding, the BR, and say hello to the old versions of the Halo kit and apprecaite it.

Actually dude, I wouldn't dream of exchanging Halo 2's balance system for Halo 1's. It is my opinion that multiplayer in Halo 2 is much more balanced than Halo 1. I wouldn't say no to the return of the AR and I actually look forward to the return of the M6D Pistol, provided Bungie does remove the scope. I'm also quite sure Bungie won't ditch the BR or dual weilding. Taking away dual-weilding would just be too big a step backwards.

And, no offense dude, but do you actually work for Bungie? Are you actually developing the game? I ask you this because of what you said, quoted below:

"What the trailer showed us is that Bungie are going back to their roots and are desgining a better balance with the old guns in mind which is genius, but for those of you who want new guns then you will get them in multi-player, but in the storyline say bye-bye to the SMG, dual-weilding, the BR, and say hello to the old versions of the Halo kit and apprecaite it."

That is a MASSIVE assumption! Just because somthing that looked like the old AR was in the trailer doesn't mean that all the old weapons and the old balance system will return. Anyone remember E3 2002? Or the Halo 2 announcment trailer?

So I ask you again. Do you work for Bungie and are you a member of the Halo 3 dev. team. If so, then disregard everything I just said. If not, then be wise enough to realize that what you're saying is a huge assumption.

Yeah dude it was an assumption, but isnt that what the forums are all about!!!!

Anyways I loved the balanced that Halo 1 brought and I liked the Halo 2 guns but given the choice of duel-weilding and the BR or the AR I would go with one of the riles, Halo 2 was just a polished version of Halo 1. Duel-weilding is not exaclty a next-gen idea and the Covenant guns were there just to confuse us.

The Alien Sniper had a shorter range that the Human one, whats that all about, isnt light faster than a bullet?

Anyways look a Battlefiend and they dont use duel-wielding yet they use two handed guns. Its better that way!!!!

And here I was thinking that they were for rational discussion of subjects of the day. Silly me.

Generally, real-world weapons don't have to worry about game balance. That might explain the difference.

Anyways look a Battlefiend and they dont use duel-wielding yet they use two handed guns. Its better that way!!!!
Chess doesn't use dual-wielding, either. Of course, that might be from the slight difference between the games' intentions...

-- Steve's wondering why so many people who love the Halo games are so determined to change them so that they resemble other games instead. *scratches head*

If you liked Halo 2 so much then stick to it and leave Halo 3 alone. Halo 3 should be different from Halo 2 otherwise it will be similar or worse yet the same.

For Halo 3 to be a hit it needs to ne different!!

For Halo 3 to be a hit, it needs to be Halo 3; not Halo: Grand Theft Auto Evolved, or Halo: 1942, or Halo: Super Smash Brothers.

-- Steve'll point out that all those other games have their merits; they're great, in fact. However, trying to cram them into a Halo game does none of them (including Halo) any good.

Should this thread not be locked since there is a "Catch-All" Thread by this title anyways?
