We should know better, because we are better.

Needle rifle for the nice explosion. I prefer the visual design too.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

I like the sound the Carbine makes when you fire it.

Carbine in Halo 2 is godly.

Indeed.

I'm not sure how I ever discovered the one hidden on Ivory Tower. Chris Carney is not a very good hider of things.

I prefer the Carbine. Though the Needle Rifle has a larger clip size (21 vs. 18) and can carry more ammunition (117 vs. 90), I can dispatch enemies more quickly in multiplayer with the Carbine because of its faster rate of fire. Also the Carbine has a larger zoom than the Needle Rifle, so I can put down fire that is more accurate fire over a greater distance.

As for usefullness in Campaign (Legendary), I'd say they're about equal. The Carbine is useful for taking out anything except for vehicles and Hunters. The Needler on the other hand is great against Hunters because of the super-combine. That being said, the Needler is pretty much useless against Elites (which you'll see a lot more often than Hunters) or Brute Chieftains unless either is standing in the open and doesn't try to shoot you for an extended period of time (also like the Carbine it can't do squat agains vehicles). However, the Needler's supercombine - in addition to being useful against hunters - is great for taking out anything without power armor, as it almost always guarantees a three-hit kill.

Death to rank junkies.

The needle rifle doesn't feel powerful enough.

Honestly, this is a good cover up for all the idiots who won't know its a cover up .

Carbine was a shield-drain/headshot weapon.
Better than BR < Carbine = DMR.

Although I like both weapons, I like using the carbine the most.

I still sort of like them both. I need to play halo 3 again to remember that covenant Carbine better though.

Seeing how it is designed to act as a poisonous weapon (it releases toxins after lodging itself into the body of the victim according to Halo: The Essential Visual Guide) it makes sense for the rounds to not have that much penetration, or else the toxin would not be injected since the round would go right through the person.

Dude, that's the freaking awesome! Now I like the Carbine even more! But are you sure it's not RADIATION poisoning?

It just says that it releases toxins, it has radiation but it also injects other toxins.

The Carbine is considered a mini fuel rod by the Halo 2 manual. The rounds it shoots are radioactive, which would cause radiation poisining on the target if not killed by the impact of the rounds themselfs.

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

I think nostalgia is influencing the vote here, and the fact many believe 2/3 were superior to Reach (well I agree they are).

But I find the Needler Rifle to be quite the superior weapon. The problem with the Carbine was it had really odd spread of its projectiles, it wasn't very accurate compared to the Needler Rifle. The Needler rifle had a larger magazine, a tighter spread (after remembering, the Carbines rate of fire is higher but only contributes to wasting ammo combined with the odd cone of fire). and the bonus of exploding the targets if you didn't get all headshots. You could carry a larger max ammunition count than the Carbine, which ate through ammo quickly.

And this is coming from a former Carbine fan.

Why are you here?

The Needle Rifle can basically work as a sniper weapon, because it just cuts straight through the enemy.

So, Needle Rifle.

Carbine. The Needle Rifle has weak power.[/quote]

That's why it can cleanly pass through a MJOLNIR helmet, eh homes?

not this again. does anyone have a link to the thread?
Her shields hadn't powered up yet.

So? It had enough power to pass right through from one side to the other.

And what makes you think the carbine wouldn't do the same thing?

Seeing how it is designed to act as a poisonous weapon (it releases toxins after lodging itself into the body of the victim according to Halo: The Essential Visual Guide) it makes sense for the rounds to not have that much penetration, or else the toxin would not be injected since the round would go right through the person.

Seeing how it is designed to act as a weapon that causes major damage to soft targets (It explodes after lodging itself into the body of the victem according to it's Halo: Reach description) it makes sense for the rounds to not have that much penetration, or else the needle(s) would not explode since the round would go right through the person.

See how that works? Hence why I dislike the Needle Rifle and prefer the Carbine. At least the Carbine holds true to it's purpose.
