Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Perhaps it's for slipspace. Perhaps it has already served its purpose, and it was only to bring Earth into orbit in the first place. That would explain why it was then buried.

Perhaps it was activated accidentally. If the Covenant can mistake a galaxy-purging ringworld for a gateway to the afterlife, who know what they think it is.

Q. What do you get when you add 1 man, 1 car, and 1 rocket built for a jet?

A. A black smudge on the side of a cliff.

Point well taken.

whatever it is i hope it beats the lowest thoeries out there, such as "the ark"and the rings "timetravelling" everything in the universe, even though there are like 6+ rings

No, only about 4 or 5

Ark = earth. They bulit a device that could sheild them from the flood, the effects of the halo blasts and remotely detonated them all. the thrusters allowed themselves to positon earth in the exactly right spot to allow life on the surface without any help
currently only 6 rings.

well thats even stupider, to change time you would only need one ring, whcih wud make a parralell universe or whatever, not like 4 which wud make 4 parralelll ones

Yeah, only nerds skip school. Oh wait...

Hmm after watching the trailer again, I find it quite possible that the dome is some kind of thruster. It looks like some jet engine flaring to life before everything gets white.

What do you mean? I said that it could be a thruster, and it looks like a jet stream. A thruster is some kind of engine/explosive device that moves things like spacecraft, am I not right?

Well that might as well happen, right? The Earth seems to have been quite destroyed already. Besides, it's probably built by the forerunners who were far more advanced than us.

I am not seeking to win the discussion, I simply come up with thoughts and get feedback.

if it was built by the forerunners it wud be more advanced than a jet engine the size of a mountain lol

I wouldn't think it's air-powered. The forerunners seem much more sophisticated than that. I would think it's powered by the same kind of energy source that allows Halo to fire more than once. What that is, we may never know.

I'm thinking bungies going to explain that its powered with fusion energy because the covenants stole their energy designs off of forerunner technology and their technology is behind human technology in that regard at least. But can you imagine the slipspace drive for a planet? or the halo rings?? those things must be HUGE or they must encircle the entire planet/ring

From who? I've never seen the thruster theory before. I modified the dome theory, yes, but that one is well known.
