I read the books and I count that there should be at least two and maybe three, Fred flew away on the ship and I believe it was Sarah who was injured and sent back. Please correct me if I am wrong because I just want to know how many Spartans I will be working with in Halo 3. I also want to add in that the ODSTs are way more 1337 then the Spartans. (Spartans are freaks and ODSTs are basically Team Rainbow)

The remaining Spartans from Dr. Halseys Spartan II program: John, Linda, Kelly, Fred, Will and 3 other unnamed Spartans too far away to participate at the time Reach fell.

I will go over this one more time. In the game there is only one Spartan. Do you understand me? Did I go to fast? I did, didn't I? I will repeat it slowly: In. the. game. there. is. only. one. Spartan. Got that? Need to consult your parents on the meaning on the word "In"? I hope you do cause nobody else seems to understand this seemingly simple sentence.

What he said. Plus it was mentioned in the books of a Spartan III program. I believe that was the program that Ackerson was heading...not 100% sure on that one. Can someone confirm this?

During the book "The Flood", which takes place during Halo CE, besides following MC; it followed Zuka 'Zamamee an elite in charge of the Covenant on Halo. Low and behold in Halo 2, Zuka 'Zamamee was condemned to become the Arbiter for his failure to protect the halo ring during Halo CE. There is the possibility that they could introduce the other spartans. Need to consult your parents in the meaning of the word "possibility"? Jaffer, you shoudl read the Halo books, but first you should come down off your high horse of ignorance, you are just making yourself look like a fool. And before you say the books are not canon, if you read the cover it says "The official novel and the best selling video game Halo."

NLANE1284, Zuka Zamamee most likely died at the end of the book, and he wasn't a ship commander, pilot or whatever you want to call it, he was a Spec Ops elite I believe, which is a combat class.

Are you sure? I believe he was the yellow armored elite (commanders) that was mentioned in the books.

Edit: You are correct about Zuka. The Arbiter was either Noga 'Putumee (gold armored elite) or Orna 'Fulsamee (the ship commander).

Swenn said and I quote: "I just want to know how many Spartans I will be working with in Halo 3." He isn't considering the possibility that there won't be Spartans either and there won't be a second Spartan-II at least in Halo 3. You know why? In the game guide (the only Halo book the overwelmingly fast majority of Halo fans have read) it clearly states that the Master-Chief is the only surviving Spartan-II.

The mention of the Arbiter is to prove a point that they do bring characters from the books into the game. That is why it was mentioned and why it was relevant.

Read about my gaming here.

they don't say there is a Spartan 3 program, we only read the SIII in one of Ackerson's files and asume he got a Spartan 3 program. Because all of the stuff he did with the Spartans. Anyway, in the end of First Strike there are possibly 8 spartans left

There were 3 out on a distant mission that couldn't be recalled, "we" haven't heard from them so we can assume they are alive. The rest have been posted here and I don't remember them all.

How do we actually know there is one spartan left? huh? In Halo 1 there were no books AND the it was thought that they were dead, wouldn't you think they were dead when you saw the covenant armada attack and concentrate on a place where you sent your soliders, and then you left? Where in Halo 2 do they say John is the only spartan left? Why does the marine in the Metroplis map say "When I asked for reinforcment, I didn't think they'd send a spartan" if John would be the only one left wouldn't he say "I didn't think they'd send you"

hey Jaffer, dont ben an ass. Wouldn't you feel stupid if Bungie lets your the other 6 that are remaining still talk to you in your headset while the spartans attend to other missions? The spartan we play as now is too strong and so they wouldnt waste another spartan on one mission(in case a freak accident occurs like they set off an atomic bomb) so they might just assign them to other missions, but you can still talk to them. So dont be an @ss youre no smarter than anyone else here.

Also, you have to remember the one Spartan who was severely injured and taken off active duty. It is very possible that this is the Cassandra from the Halo 2 pamphlet. So, that raises it up to 9 Spartan IIs

Spartans dont officaly die, they just get listed as MIA, also i dont think any old soldier would be told about the number of remining spartans

Errr...kind of...I agree Spartan's could appear in Halo 3, but the Elite Zuka Zamanee, while certainly the Covenant equivalent of a Captain, or a General, did not lead the forces on Halo. He was also killed by the Master Chief in The Maw section of the books. The Arbiter is in fact the Captain (Again the Covie equivalent) of the Covenant flagship Ascendant Justice, which the Master Chief (and Polaski, the Sarge and the rest lol) captured in First Strike. I believe the Prophets of Truth, Mercy and Regret punished the soon-to-be Arbiter (who must have escaped in a drop capsule when the MC attacked) for losing one of their precious flagships. So I agree on the fact that there might be more Spartan's in H3, but not on the history of the Arbiter lol.
