The remaining Spartans from Dr. Halseys Spartan II program: John, Linda, Kelly, Fred, Will and 3 other unnamed Spartans too far away to participate at the time Reach fell.

Also, you have to remember the one Spartan who was severely injured and taken off active duty. It is very possible that this is the Cassandra from the Halo 2 pamphlet. So, that raises it up to 9 Spartan IIs

If you want to go that route, there are many more, who are in fact too injured to participate in actual combat, I'd raise that to around 15 alive Spartans, but I cant count them right now my friend is borrowing Fall of Reach.
But anyways, the ones I listed are ones we could possibly encounter in Halo 3 during combat situations.

1. John 117, Master Chief
2. Linda
3. Fred
4. Weill
5. Kelly
6. Cassandrs (from the LE edition of H2), too far away to be recalled
7. Too far away to be recalled like Cassandra
8. Too far away to be recalled

A few died, a dozen or so are not able to fight anymore and are now part of ONI, and there are supposedly 15-30 who are taken by Ackerson..trained by Mendez, and cloned+trained on Chiron TL34 (Halo CE level, and located on a Halo ring), and are the SPARTAN IIIs...

Chiron TL34 on a Halo ring is a Spartan Clone Traininig center..the Spartans are not clones..But Ackerson's personal Spartan army may be..

The SPARTAN IIIs are most likely going to turn on the Chief, or something along those lines...or they may turn on Ackerson and help the Chief out..we will have to see where their loyalties lie after years of seperation.

Books= not affecting games. So spartan wise its John plus all the spartans that are not in active duty but work in intelligence agencies. Or command postions

  • 05.17.2006 11:56 AM PDT

Q. What do you get when you add 1 man, 1 car, and 1 rocket built for a jet?

A. A black smudge on the side of a cliff.

Hopefully the book will help clear up all of these questions.

Books do not afect the games, Games do not affect the books. You know why? They're the same story, and Bungie told The authors what to include and they worked their magic..now we have more of the Halo story minus being able to play it.

Except for the fact that none of the other spartans were even mentioned, and unless in the upcoming graphic novel they show how all of the other spartans died on the way to earth, there is no proof that there will be any more spartans.

Would you clump up your Artillery if you were a Command Master Sargeant (or something along those lines), or would you strategically place them apart so more than one place is kept safe? They didn't mention lots of things in that game..one of them being how Johnson got back to Earth,, except anyone who read the books knows..it's also explained why MC is only on Delta Halo for a day to a week, and why he returns right after he left.

I really hope that the book clears this all up. Bcuz in the end of the first strike John, Linda ,Fred, and Will are on the GETTYSBURGH headed to earth. Then in the beginning of HALO 2 they r nowhere 2 b found. Except for John and Cortana of course.

According to the FIRST BOOK all of the spartans were "clumped up" in one place, at Reach, to go attack the covenant homeworld.

The books directly relate to the Halo storyline (duh). It all depends on whether or not Bungie decides to use the content from the novel, for the game. If this is the last installment, I'm sure Bungie will pull everything they have or save the storyline for a spin-off further down the road.

What do you mean by "none of the other spartans were even mentioned..."? The books mentioned them. Bungie didn't mention them in the trailer for 3, but that doesn't really mean anything since we don't really know the storyline yet.

No, there were 3 that couldn't return to Reach in time to fight off the Covenant.

and 1 of em fell into Reach'es atmosphere and Linda got nailed in the back and was frozen. So even if you take out all the other ones... LINDAS STILL ALIVE!!! W00t! that means a logical storyline for co-op if nothing else

Forgetting about other Spartans for a minute. For those of you who have seen the trailer (everyone here) were is everyone? As for why is the Chief there? I belive he has just crash landed on earth in the pyramid ship.

Now for a bit of speculation. Did the forunners ever cultivate earth? And do things such as help the Egyptians build the pyramids? I have a strong theory that the Forunners are not as old as we all think. For those of you who read the Bible. You may know of the Old Earth Theory (Eath was created with the appearance of age) and maybe that we (humanity) are the forunners. I have recently read in this forum a similar and almost complementary post. Then agian what do I know I eat my own poo :)

According to the FIRST BOOK all of the spartans were "clumped up" in one place, at Reach, to go attack the covenant homeworld.

There were 3 away from REACH, and the ones on REACH were only 'clumped up' cause they were about to leave in a ship to get to the Covie homeworld.

On Earth, the large op was to protect Earth, and it would not work if they were all clumped up in one spot cause the Covies had many places to land.

On REACH they went on the offenseive (well they were trying to) and on Earth they were on the defensive, and the difference between the two requires a different strategy.

I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.

According to First Strike there are five confirmed alive John, Fred, Will, Linda, and Kelly. But there are some that were never confirmed dead so they are MIA and there are three unnamed spartans that were mentioned in Fall of Reach that were to far away to be called back for there mission, it is unknown whether they are alive.

The Forerunners probably did cultivate Earth because "after" the forerunners used the Ark to activate all the halos so the flood could not spred, a few microbes survived on Earth creating the human life. then the humans spred outward into the galaxy and started to battle the covenent.

If you interpritate that in the right way the Forerunners are the human race's ancestors.
