Subject: whats the most common mistakes of matchmaking?

Spartans never die, they just go MIA......

What are the most common mistakes that you see newer players (or even just unskilled players) make that get them killed? Is it easy for you to spot a new or unskilled player? How do you counter their flawed tactics?

Simple questions

Discuss.

Everything they do countered by anything they don't do.

I see new players doing this all of the time. If you are one shot don't just think you are god and try to out DMR the guy anyways. Learn when to back down for once.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

Using the AR.

Easily countered by using anything better than the AR (so, nearly everything).

Haha that made me laugh

  • 02.03.2012 7:58 AM PDT

fear me, for i am pro sauce

silly people doing silly things

kinda like watching your team mates run after a 1 shot with an AR instead of using their DMR

or people chasing a 1 shot to beat them down instead of just shooting them in the back of the head once or twice with a DMR

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

This. I lol every time I put some kid into 1-shot before he even sees me and then he tries to challenge me.

Fun fact: 9/10 users with no linked gamertag are better than you at Halo. That doesn't necessarily mean that I am; but it does mean there's a pretty solid chance.

Running in straight lines when under fire.

Using Armour Lock. Yes, there are 'experienced' players that do this too, but nine times out of ten they're on the same level as kids who've just picked up their first controller.

Dropping their DMR/Magnum for a power weapon instead of their AR.

Running around with a Sword or Gravity Hammer out.

Standing at the top of Grav Lifts.

Repeatedly running up the same Grav Lift.

Developing a vendetta against a specific player, and continually rushing said player despite the fact that they're getting wrecked every time.

Double beatdowns. 'nuff said.

Running around the inside of a tight corner.

There are more, but that's what I've got off the top of my head.

Whats even funnier is when YOU'RE one shot and their first reaction is to throw 5000 nades so you 5 them and get away and your shields are full by then.

"Angry Angels, Honour & Loyalty!"

I never got to understand why people dont "like" the double melle, and/or consider it as a "low blow" or a BK/NOOB tactic.
Why.

PS: I m not trolling. From where I stand, if a hit dont kill the guy, why not two?

This was the first thing I thought of after reading the OP. You can spot an noob a mile away by the sound of his AR.

well challenging is usually better in most cases because even if you die the damage you do to the other guy will help your teammates finish him off faster.

its better then trying to run away because chances are if you try to back down, you'll end up dying if your teammates aren't around you.

Reloading immediately after killing an enemy every time. Usually you still have more than half the clip left and can shoot another enemy who is close to you instead of being 2-3 shots down in the battle because you started to reload.

I think that is a common mistake in any online FPS game.

I still reload more than I have to, but it's to prepare for any shots that might get eaten. Not everyone can get godly triple kill 5-shots like IHATEKEVINBRAND.
