I hate coming up against an armor locker in all playlists, but i sometimes find myself using it on splatter-fiend randoms in btb, to a real degree of success.

It only delays the inevitable.

Typical Waypoint post.

Actually armor lock does not delay death. not once in the beta or any other time ever in any circumstanced ranged or cqc have i ever used armor lock and failed to kill when i popped out.

True story I love the thing. Its the win button and i have no problem using it. In the event it were totally removed it wouldn't matter. Id still beat you Al just gives the added ability to troll the guy that you know your going to kill anyway.
Weren't you that kid that rage quit after I steaked you while searching alone on a joke account?

It would be better if the armor locker's shields went down when they got out of armor lock.

It's not that it just annoys me becuase I get killed from it from time to time, but it's because it slows down gameplay from making me wait for the person in Armor Lock to come out and die.

It's annoying because it delays the inevitable and slows down the game. If I catch you armor locking, you can expect to see my virtual crotch dragged across your virtual nose.

I always teabag armor lockers. Always.

Agreed, it is very rarely used smartly.

Most people who use it, are hoping for a team mate to trun up, to change the battle.

I hate it for this. I do love it when I fire a Rocket at someone, but they deploy AL and reject my rocket. That was smart.

With the TU, it is much better, but still slows down game play.

Players should learn to take defeat as it comes to them. Armor lock is for players who routinely can't finish or win their fights. 9 times our of 10, The player will use armor only to have the enemy get ready and kill them with one hit as soon as armor lock ends. Its a useless armor ability for bad players.

It doesn't compute right.

I try not to hate it but sometimes it can be unbearable.

When someone goes into armour lock right before I kill them, I'm mildly annoyed. This elevates if his team mates come and try to kill me.

But I get really annoyed if they use armour lock to deflect a sticky or if they use armour lock right after throwing a frag.

I wish all my fingers were on my left hand, so my right hand is just a fist for punching.

AL can be used to an advantage, not just as a panic button. Example: Protecting flag carrier as an escort, I would AL in a doorway, sacrificing myself, but the enemy pursuers couldn't follow the flag.

It's a crutch for bad players. They armor lock while screaming through their mic for someone to help them since they can't kill the enemy themselves.

It's the cheapest way to bait and switch in the open without being strategic at all.

In Halo 3 you had to get behind cover while a teammate was waiting and took on the enemy after the teammate was cleared, and it took communication AND teamwork to do it.

In Reach, you just AL and let it drain while the enemy has to take on your teammate with full shields when the enemy lost some of theirs fighting the AL'er, and requires NO skill or communication.

It makes the game less fun and more boring.

And like A 3 Legged Goat said. It's practically a pause button.

I dont use armor lock much myself. I try to stay moving and default to sprinting. I don't think AL is useless. Plenty of times a teammate armor locked and some wonderchild sat there waiting for the AL to end to get the kill... before that happened myself or another team member killed the guy as he stared like a deer in the headlights at the armor lock. Keep staring into the light!

  • 02.06.2012 6:45 PM PDT

Yea, I'm a dude and I use Kat as my avatar? So what, Kat's hot and a badass. Deal with it

I don't really get the hate, even after reading all of these arguments. Most guys think it's just delaying the inevitable, so why complain? If you are convinced you're going to kill the Armor Locker anyway, who cares? And are you complaining it's a lack of skill? Isn't "skill" rated by who wins? If you get killed by an AL user, didn't he just win? You can use it too. It seems like people who hate AL are those who find themselves on the wrong end of it. Slowing gameplay? Really? Unless an entire team is using it and they all Armor Lock at the same time, a few seconds is hardly slowing down the rate of play.

AL recharges and it's duration is around 6 seconds. If 4 people are using it, that's 24 seconds.

Considering they're "delaying the inevitable" and dying after their AL use and are using it the whole game (which they usually do) , that means that even if that whole AL team dies AT LEAST 5 times each= 5deathsx6secondsx4players=120 seconds= 2 MINUTES OF ARMOR LOCKING IN AN 8-10 MINUTE GAME. That's 1/4th to 1/5th the game time waiting to kill an AL'er.

And that's just considering they all die only 5 times. Let's look at 50 times cumulatively (12-13 deaths each) to win a game.

12x24=288 seconds= 4.8 MINUTES OF ARMOR LOCKING IN AN 8-10 MINUTE GAME. HALF the game spent "delaying the inevitable" while the other half is spent playing.

Of course this is all considering they use AL every time before they die, but STILL, how is that "hardly" slowing down the rate of play at all?

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

I usually get gang banged when waiting for noobs to come out of armour lock.
