Fun fact: 9/10 users with no linked gamertag are better than you at Halo. That doesn't necessarily mean that I am; but it does mean there's a pretty solid chance.

...If you leave any more, you won't be able to re-renter Matchmaking right away.

Yeah, I don't get along with AR spawns on Sword Base.

Is this meant to be a deterrent? If I get a map or gametype I don't enjoy playing, I'm going to quit. Threatening a 10-minute ban isn't going to be enough to keep me in a game I'm going to hate to the core for potentially 12 minutes. It's evidently not enough to deter betrayals, either, because again 10 minutes of no Matchmaking for getting booted isn't exactly a big deal.

I'm sure there's a 'better' solution to quitting out there somewhere. Why we're stuck with this temporary minor inconvenience is beyond me.

As an alternative to just putting 'discuss' at this point, could someone please explain the logic behind this probation thing, because I'm failing to see it.

Isn't Squad Slayer DMRs all the time, or did they do away with that list?

EDIT: Also, the probation is to stop you from quitting since you'll have to wait 10 minutes to rejoin. In the impatient world we live in, that's a long time. Furthermore, it prevents you from joining anymore matches and quitting out of them again so, for 10 minutes, people can be free from your disrupting their fun.

Pro tip. When in voting lobby and crap gets voted for Dashboard or sign out profile to quit, this way you wont get a 10 min ban.

Where are we? Kindergarten? Man up and play.

'Man up and play'? Newsflash: it's a videogame. Games are for fun. If I'm not going to have fun, what's the point playing.

This. Deal with it OP. Just find another weapon, or actually use the magnum.

Why would you join a lobby knowing that something that you dont like could appear in it if you quit everytime it happens?

Because we pay for XBL which in turn lets us play MM, so why should we be disciplined for using an in-game option to get us out of something we won't/don't have fun with in an entertainment media that we pay to use?

You're exactly right. We do pay to play MM, and by consistently quitting from games you are ruining the experience for other players who paid just as much. Quitting when necessary is acceptable. That's whey there is an option to quit in the first place, but quitting from games frequently is inexcusable and you should be punished accordingly.

But what of the person who keeps getting gametypes they don't like? Is their experience not being ruined by that? It's obviously a flawed system with flawed penalties. Halo is the only game that I can think of that dishes out quit bans. Frankly it's asinine and hopefully 343 will change that in future titles.

So basically what you want is a perfect world where everyone gets what they desire. Yeah, good luck with that. That's why matchmaking options are chosen by the one with the most votes. At least this way the majority get what they want and not the minority. If you want to improve the chances of you getting your desired gametype then play with others who want the same thing. Simple

But why should the minority be punished? This is a fraking videogame and that no way impacts what really happens in life, those who don't want certain gametypes should not be punished for not wanting to play them by leaving. Plus maybe if Bungie had originally intergrated more search options for gametypes, a lot less people would quit.

You're entire argument is flawed. What you're asking for is impossible. Regardless of the results, there will always be people who don't get what they want. It only makes sense to support the majority over the minority in this type of situation. It's common sense.

And why are you saying that those who don't win get "punished". That is a gross exaggeration. You only get punished if you try to break the system in place. Repeatedly quitting can basically be considered an exploit because you're trying to force the system to work in your favor.

How is my entire argument flawed? Because you don't like it and think that people who quit out of something that's meant for entertainment and enjoyment should be punished because they aren't being entertained and/or enjoying themselves? Please, in a game like Reach where you're awarded for time played, a quitban is not needed. And how is it impossible to have a playlist that's AR or DMR only or to have a serach option for *insert gametype here* so that you get matched up more often with people who like the same stuff as you do. And if your next counter-argument is "low population" then who the hell cares? If more gametypes are made to make more people happy, then so be it.
