I have been thinking lately, about that Forerunner armor Guilty Spark mentioned that is six times more powerful then the MK IV, Sentinels and Forerunner technology in general. And it really got me thinking.

With all this super advanced technology and intelligence, you are telling me that the last and best solution the Foreunners could think of was a weapon that would kill all life in the galaxy including themselves and not the Flood themselves? Think about it: Master Chief was able to handle vast amount of Flood by himself. Now imagine Master Chief wearing armor 6x more powerful then his current armor. Now imagine an entire army/race with this technology fighting the Flood. And you are telling me they lost? And we haven't even seen half of what the Forerunner tech could really do. Also add the fact that the Forerunners had all the sentinels and such and still lost.

I think there is a key part still missing from the Forerunners. I find it very hard to believe that the Halos were the best resort they could think of to fight the Flood. or maybe the Halos have another purpose we do not yet know of. In fact. Isn't it possible that Cortana could have misinterepted Halos' true purposes?

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

It is possible that Halo could have other purposes, and Cortana only found one of them...

We don't know what the forerunner flood forms looked like, and they can use weapons, have shields and use active camo, they resurect so there are big chances that the flood took those that were in those armors, got the armor running and used it themselves over and over again, at the end there were no armor left but they could use it plenty of times.

I think that the Halos have to do something else. Maybe like a gate to a really far away galaxy and that is why the Forerunners are gone because they went there. Maybe (preparing to get flamed) that the Great Journey might be real in the end and the Prophets didn't really lie.

and add into the fact that the guilty spark is an inntuitive ai who has a 100,000 years alone, he probably designed new armor.

Guilty Spark said the rings were activated once before, but why did the flood still survive?

Appearently, when the Halos are activated, it kills potential Flood hosts not the Flood themselves. Which brins back the original point. Why would the Forerunners develope a weapon that would kill all life in the galaxy and not their enemy themselves and only, for a lack of a better term, "starve them"?

I am personally beginning to think that they were some how betrayed, that maybe Halo was indeed their last resort but they weren't quite there in terms of using it and they had more plans before the Halos were activated. But who possibly betrayed the Forerunners? Someone in their own race? Or one of their creations?

I dought in Halo 1 or 2 you ever fought a real flood army. Chief with 6x armor wouldn't last against gravemind. After all, three SUPER sized enforcers couldn't and they have much more durablility than the chief.

Could... Gravemind be... a Forerunner? A Flood-Forerunner?

I really want to see MC find and use Forerunner armor. Of course you could only use it on like the last 2-3 levels, but it would be -blam!-ing to just charge into a group of Covies and Flood and own them. Then straight teabag them.

I hope the Ark holds the armor...

But if you think about it, the Forerunners would have an entire army of Enforcers,Sentinels, and warriors wearing the strong armor, and as far as we know, Gravemind is one of a kind.

about Gravemind, I was thinking that he might be Forerunner as well, just infected and super sized. It might be possible that it betrayed the Forerunners before it became completely infected by activating the Halos killing all the Forerunners in the process. As far as we know, the Flood don't have a lifespan (Gravemind is at last 100,000 year old) so how don't we know that a single greedy Forerunner wanted immortality and used the Flood as his tools to reach it. Crazy idea but you never know.

I really think that gravemind is an advanced form of Forerunner Flood the more i think about it. It would alos explain how Gravemind had such knowledge of the rings inner workings.

The Flood problem could have been extreme. Halo is a weapon of last resort and that is why the humans don't want it activated now. The problem is fairly contained.

What about this... what if it is a combination of everyone's theories. Perhaps the Rings DO cause the mass destruction of Flood, and they are also time portals. MEANING that they would destroy the flood, but since they are made to destroy all sentient life, they sent themselves into the future so they could re-exist on Earth and other planets without having to deal with the Flood.

MAYBE we are almost to the point in time in the future where the Forerunners jumped to and in 3 we will get to see the Forerunners (possibly play as one?).

As far as why there is still flood and still human life, maybe the rings didn't work like they were supposed to. There was no way they could have known because you can't just test a ring somewhere....

I am sure there are holes to this theory... but some of it would be cool.

OK.. something about gravemind.. did anyone stop to think that maybe the whole Keyes blob was a foreshadow to how the gravemind came about? So the gravemind is probably the same thing that Keyes would have been had he lived the Halo destruction

well I agree with your last bit, the Rings must be malfunctioning at the time somehow, the Sentinels would have fixed it by now so that this time nobody will be left alive.

Very good point/thought. So if the flood gets you you become a venus fly trap. Brilliant... :o) Just kidding, I do think that is a good thought

Good point. 343 did leave out that "little detail" the last time on the first Halo about Chief activating it.

Just thinking about it, I think that Cortana missed something about the Halos. Guilty Spark seems to answer only direct questions so it is totally possible that Guilty Spark "forgot" something.
