It isn't our shiznit anymore.

After reading a few publications on Bnet, I came across an interesting point Bungie raised (E Pluribus Unum: Matchmaking in HALO 3, slide 30):
We used this to give players a "hill-climbing" experience by initially decreasing their TrueSkill update weight
-Weights start out small and return to normal over 50-100 games in a playlist
-Even though we can identify good or bad players after 8 games, it is more satisfying for them to feel they earned their skill over time

If given the choice, would you like a system that tries to converge your skill rating as fast as possible (so you can start playing other teams equal to your skill level) or one that lengthens the journey to simulate a "hill-climbing" experience?

Your opinion is invalid.

Hill climbing. I want to dump on bad players rather than be a 50 in one game. Though this thread doesn't really apply to Reach.

Doesn't that get boring? Going back to your thread about playing MLG Pros, you wrote that you were "visibly shaking by the end of it [the game]." Do you not enjoy the adrenaline packed craziness that is playing teams as competent as you?

Isn't that what being a competitive gamer is all about? Playing for those few moments when you can put all of your skills to the test?

Also, fair enough at the last sentence. This is more of a general Halo matchmaking question and I have no Optimatch forum to post in. :(

Sure, beating up on idiots gets old after like 5 games.

I much prefer a competitive scenario, but that can wait until I reach a higher rank. Playing against bad people if fun for a while, but it does get boring.

Hill climbing resulted in more people getting second accounts so that they could go potty all over "bad kids."

From a business standpoint it makes sense.

From a gameplay standpoint it feels more fun.
