I'll be on my own side.

Although you bring up an interesting idea, I don't think it relates to the Arbiter's involvement.

REG, people will complain no matter what.

"I wouldn't put money on anything concerning Halo 3, period, simply because nothing aout this game is concrete at this point."

And concerning that bungie has already shocked us once with the relese of Halo 3 and they could shock us agian and turn the story upside down inside out and anyother way u wana say it.

Exactly. I mean, it's like betting that the ATV is gonna be in Halo 2 because it was cool and because they said it would be. Well, looks like I would be out 20 bucks.

The story in halo 3...

The arbiter should be running around to each of the halos why chief is trying to get to truth...
and whilest on the halos (arby) he should blow them all up rendering them useless

this would have dire consequences as never being able to stop the flood?

but i digress....Arby was cool and it opened up a good story into an excellent story (so i thought) cloaking is cheating....chief has to punch on the whole way so im a chief fan...or a lazy cheater..

nuff sed

I don't think you grasp the concept of betting. Once it is concrete, it's a little late. I'm suggesting, all things considered, that it is the ark. IF you think it isn't, then say so. However pointing out that nobody knows for sure is redundant, because it is obvious. We're talking about what is likely. Tell us what you think is likely, or don't bother arguing about it.

If you acknowledge that you don't know anything, why didn't you say that instead of making yourself look like a jackass by saying you know things that you don't? Making assumptions based on facts is fine, but making assumptions based on non-existant facts makes you look dumb.

Assumptions assumptions...at least I have put forward a likely scenario based on what we know so far. All you've done is try to discredit it. How about you postulate a possible story direction which would support the need for a second campaign?

Sure, HC may be under Flood control(we assume). That doesn't mean that there aren't Covenant still there, fighting. After All, we only saw a tiny section of HC.

No attempt to contain the flood in such a way has been successful so far I think. I say it is most probable that they overran High Charity at the end of Hal o2. I don't see how any remaining covenant could evict Gravemind, certainly. If you think differently, please say so.

The Arbiter is now an important part of the story, whether you like it or not. Taking him out would leave a big hole. I personally think playing him showed a lot of how the Covenant work and added tons to the story.

Thank god, someone finnaly realises it! The Arbiter is a big, BIG part of the story, without him it would fall apart. If the Arbiter wasn't in Halo 2 it wouldn't make sence, think about it. You see Tart in the cut scenes, then all of a sudden he's gone forever because they didn't allow you to take him out ( This is of course, one of many things that wouldn't make sence). You may not enjoy his levels as much as John's but it's a part of the story so you have to deal with it if you want to understand what's going on.

Personally, I didn't like the Arbiter missions as much as the Chief's. Maybe if we could have played as a regular Elite, and fought against humans, that would have been cool. But on Halo 3, I'd rather just play as the Chief.

the arbiter was halo's raiden

  • 05.18.2006 4:56 PM PDT

I think that the Aribiter should shut down the so called "Ark" (hey like Noah's Ark to the Flood, get it? man theres alot of biblical reference in Halo...even the Flood themselfs are medphor) and then die. Give us maybe 5 Arbiter levels, bring him to maybe half or 3/4 of the way into the game and then kill him off. That way the ending is purly for the MC, but the Arbiter's story comes to a good close. Maybe he does some self sacrafise at the end so Keys and Johnson get back to Earth and spread the word about the Halos and another Eliete/Brute skirmish breaks out. idk, i just dont think we want another game with the Arbiter not all the way through

On the other hand, it might be cool to see the Arbiter and MC fighting back to back (like that desktop that was released some months ago) at the end making there way to the prophet. Either way, he shouldn't live through the whole game

What is with all you little kids whinging about playing as the arbiter. There wanst that much of a difference in gameplay. The only differences were chief had cortana annoying him and the arbiter had another elite annoying him. Chief had little hands with gloves and arbiter had big ass hands and chiefs flahlight that kept turning off and arbiters invisibility. The covenant story line was a lot more interesting than the human story line. So just shut the -blam!- up about the situation. Cause all you little kids can ever think about is playing as a hero thats human. So all you little kids need to go find a different game if you dont like it.

No need for flood. the arbiter was cool but his levels were little more than confusing. I hope they get rid of the flood forever.

No one is whining about playing as the Arbiter, we are just discussing what Bungie could do to make playing as the Elite just as good as playing as the Chief, if they decide to create Arbiter missions. I agree that the Covenant storyline was very good, just as good as the human's storyline. But in actual gameplay, playing as the Chief was more entertaining, at least to me.

I think the other character, if there is one, should be another spartan like maybe Kelly or something. Definitely not the Arbiter. I've grown to hate the Covenant, so why should i work for them?!

That's not a bad idea. They wouldn't even have to eliminate the Arbiter from the story, just cover what he's doing in movie scenes.
