The Arbiter sucked, that's why. I want to HATE the Covenant, not understand them.

A mythic member but I speak my mind to much.

Halo is becoming much deeper then we could have imagined and to tell this great story in it entirety the game would need another set of Eyes telling the other half of the story you would not see playing just a MC.

Blatent, purely "evil" enemies are boring. They're just boring. It's a shallow story when the the enemy is labeled the enemy with no real reason or justification. Bungie knows this. That's why they tried to give a little depth to the Halo universe by introducing the arbiter and having us step into the covenant's world. I actually appreciate that they did this. I like to know why I'm shooting at someone, not just who to point my gun at. If nothing else, it's an interesting parody of the dangerous affects of unchecked religious devotion.

The levels the Arbiter went on were really boring. If he is in halo3, they should make the levels you play as him much more fun

the arbiter was an an amazing character, bubt he was realy submissive. just took away from his charatcer.....and as far as how fun it was to play with him.... i would say that they did suck. however, it wasnt the fact that it was the arbiter you were playing as, it was the fac thtta the levels were jsut plain boring. if bungie had stuck the MC in there they woulda been boring jsu tthe same. so i say give the arbiter a chance and let him kick some ass this time around.

Notice how these people are saying why they hate the great Arbiter in terms of the enemies he has to fight, not the gameplay and story.

The Arbiter brought a new sense of interest into the game as he repesented an enemy that we saw as mindless zealots in the first game. He has a now catalysmic impact on the story and I loved how he was an alien who was living a lie his whole life. It makes the Covenant more understandable and seeing the story through the eyes of the enemy (now ally) is interesting and was a lot of fun.

I liked the Arbiter, I thought he was cool. Besides, the Master Chief needs a rival. I thought the Arbiter had a cool voice and armour to, just like the Chief. Besides it's not like Bungie can take his character away from the game, that just wouldn't make any sense.

Keep the arbiter, it gives you a better experience, you get to experience both sides of the conflict and allows the gamer to have a better sense of the games story. The only thing that should be adjusted is the time you play as the covanent, I have always enjoyed the MC's levels and I feel they should be the most frequent. Halo 2 had almost half and half, this just made the story seem shorter, if we get the arbiter in Halo 3 thats fine but make sure him and MC get a lot of gameplay.

Personally I want a long game with more MC time.

Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame.
They will lead you to war, and perhaps, to victory.

Finish the Fight

I agree completely. I care about the Chief more, I care about the fate of the humans. The biggest disappointment to me was the lack of "fighting for earth" and that sort of thing from Halo 2. I wouldn't mind watching the arbiter's story in a cutscene, but i don't want to play as him. In Halo 1, it was the Covenant's relentless attack and our struggle for survival. Like....I guess a Covenant civil war is cool...?
