In halo 1 there was a lot of carnage and chaos right?? Lot of loud explosions and gun fire.
WHAT happen to those WOW moments in Halo 1 that weren't in Halo 2? Does anyone ever wonder? Play games like Brother in Arms(not comparable to halo, but as an example) you feel like you are actually in a war zone. Halo 2 lack the integridty of intensity of war games.
Big explosions+loud guns+dirty flying+powerful weapons+bullets flying overhead= Intensive Game Play(like Halo 1)
My Reasons pointing out why I thought Halo 2 was so quiet that made me thought i was playing Splinter Cell:
1) Bungie weakened the grenade so the explosion was much weaker. The damage balance was fine but didn't have to take out the dirt that was kicked up during explosion or the camera shack effect on the visor.
2)Weak and queit guns. The SMG sounded like a silenced Mp5(wonder what a silenced SMG sounds like). The shotgun shot like 2 feet in H2 and it only scratched the wall. People ran from shotguns in Halo1, but in H2 people ran at it.
3)Too many semi-auto/burst weapons: BR, pistol, Carbine..., no loud and powerful Squad Automatic Weapon like the M249 used in military today. Many people want the AUTO assault rifle back because it was the key to carnage in Halo1 and was mission in Halo2.
4) More special effects like dirt kick up and mess up helmet visor sight. Shrapnel hits from explosions. Loud and jaw dropping sounds.
Conclusion,
Bungie worried too much about weapon balance H2 than fun for the fans. Sacraficed all of the cool parts about blowing stuff up with more accurate and less powerful weapons. I remember that in H1 the AR bullets actually ripped apart your shield and you can see it in 1st person view.
BUNGIE PLZ MAKE US FEEL LIKE WE ARE IN A WAR AGAIN!
I hoped that Bungie brings the feeling of massive chaos(what halo was about) back in HALO 3. I was happy to see the Assault Rifle in Trailer. What you guy think?
