Okay, so I thought of this.
Bungie stated explicitly that the cutscene is playing at 1/3rd of the whole game.
So, all you "it's-the-ark"-theory followers, I'm sorry, but I think you got it all wrong.
Because once the ark is activated, there's probably no going back.
And, would the other 2/3 of the game be a complete cutscene how the halo's activate?
I think not. This structure is something else.
Something else we know about it, is that the light coming out travels directly into a vortex in the clouds. When Delta Halo activated, this vortex wasn't there, while there are definately clouds there. Artificial or not, if the structures serve for the same purpose, then there would be a vortex on every activation.
And, stated before, in Mizt0rchief's topic, the cruisers and banshee escort seem to evade their holy light rather than moving into it like Tartarus did in Halo 2.
Then again, Tartarus might be an uneducated swine, but I do not know that about him.
Also, how come Mc is just looking over the dome as if nothing is happening?
He's just watching it like: Oh, okay. Well, whatever.
While, in Halo 2, when the cruiser puts his plasma beam to use on Delta Halo, he flees like a rabbit. So, this must be something less dangerous than the ark.
What if it's some kind of tractor/transport beam to earth? Or a beacon to activate something else, but what?
Something we must be missing out. Because the trailer is hiding millions of secrets. ;)
Well, here's my.. small, theory.
Could you guys point out the wrong things? And I'll correct them.
Once again, this is all opinion and speculation.
